You will not be disappointed with this bucket.

However, if you're looking at this as a backpacker, perhaps for water filtering/campfire chores I'd suggest looking at a different brand/model. This bucket is great, but it doesn't fold down as small or pack as light as some of the other, purpose-designed backpacking buckets. Granted, it's half the price, but you can do better.

With that said, I've used mine quite a bit and can report that there have been no leaks, it has proven plenty sturdy and has stood up fine to frequent bleach-water cleaning (since I use it for water filtering).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I've now had my bucket for TWO YEARS. I've been very active outdoors during those two years and have had just about everything from nalgene canteens to stuff sacks to even saws and shovels break and fail, but this bucket still looks and works like new!

I have used it for kayaking (great for washing down the boat), backpacking and water filtering, and have very frequently sterilized it with scalding hot bleach water (usually before and after every trip) and it's still in perfect condition . Very impressive. I had planned to replace it with a lighter bucket for backpacking, but I feel like I just trust it too much now to use something else. Excellent product. I still say it's kind of heavy, but if you know you'll really need a bucket on your trip and can't afford to try out one of those nylon jobs, this one's worth taking.

Water is the most important thing to have in an emergency or survival situation.

I bought two of these blue buckets and one of the jumbo green ones. My thinking was one trip to the water source would fill the green jumbo and two trips would give me approximately 12 gallons of water. Enough to fill my canteens and have water left over.

They are very flexible and roll up. They take up almost no space in your backpack. Thats what I like most about them. Besides, who wants to carry a plastic 5 gallon bucket around on their next camping trip.

They do have a "new plastic smell" to them so don't be surprised when you open the package. I'm sure if your in a situation when you really "need" these, you won't really care about that anyways.

I recommend these and have found nothing else that would replace their functionality.

I got this thinking I would try it out on a back packing trip. I was concerned how it would hold up being stuffed in a pack with all of the other gear. This held up very well. It came in handy during the 3 days of rain we experienced. It was easy to capture the rain water with a poncho and this wide mouth bucket. Good item to put in a larger Bug Out Bag.

I was looking for a container to scoop up water to filter back at camp. I thought about using a hydration bladder, but that would not be easy to clean out debris. I saw this and decided I would be hard pressed to find a better product to fit my needs.

My criteria was:

1. Sturdy
2. Lightweight
3. Good Capacity
4. Compacts down to a small package
5. Stable when filled with water

This water bucket can easily meet my needs for being sturdy. You don't want a cheap flimsy product that ends up ripping or causes you to spill the water while carrying it. It is also dishwasher safe, which it states on the label. It seems to be made well enough that it could be mistreated a bit, but I do not plan to do that.

This product is pretty light on the scales. Many times sturdy and lightweight do not go together, but I think this product manages both well.

It also fits my criteria for capacity. You don't want a container that is so large that you have trouble getting it back to camp, but you also don't want something so small that you have to make many trips. This is a good size for filling up multiple hydration packs and still having plenty left over for dishes etc.

You can roll it up or compact it to a fairly small size so it doesn't take up to much space in your pack, kayak, etc.

The stability is better than I expected. I filled it up and put it on the table without spilling any water. It can even take bumps without tipping over. After all, if you carried the water a good ways you probably don't want to hold it up or steady it. It can easily be placed for water collection from rain as already stated.

I thought it was pretty cool to see "Made in USA" on the inside rim. It is nice to see a quality product made in the U.S. at a very reasonable price.

We bought this to replace our traditional plastic bucket on our sailboat. When a bucket of saltwater is needed to wash something down we just throw it over board and pull up a few gallons of sea water. The best feature is how little space it requires to store (compared to a plastic bucket). Overall construction is well made (very similar to a dry bag). I highly recommend for any boater.

I thought this was a pretty good deal as far as camping buckets go. I actually purchased this for our emergency prep kit. I used it a few times to wash my truck, just to check the integrity of it. Didn't have any leaks, stood up on its own... seemed to do what it was advertised to do.

I use this bucket in the backcountry for "harvesting" stream or spring water for later filtration. It's awkward having to crouch or lean over the stream, hold my water bottle and pump my water pump all at the same time without falling in. This bucket weighs next to nothing, collapses down to almost nothing, but is a life-saver when trying to filter some water. I was super bummed about losing my old one several months back, and this one is not only a tad larger but the bottom seems to be better attached to the body of the bucket. Essential gear for any backcountry strategist.

This is very well made. Takes up practically no space in my pack. Seems like it'll last a long time.

I'm tempted to buy the whole line - these are great.

I'd recommend this to anyone.

This bucket is a must have for a backpacking trip or to include in your SHTF bag. Its large enough to wash in, and light and flexible enough that it wont take up hardly any space in your pack. It has that "new plastic smell" but in a situation that calls for the use of this bucket, hardly an issue.

I will be purchasing 2 more now that I have received the first one and tested it.

Pros: very light weight easy to pack and can carry about 4 liters of water. Cons: need very level ground for bucket to stay upright, easily collapses when filled.
I've had this bucket for about a year and used it sparingly, mainly for backpacking use because of its light weight and easily packs away, but I noticed the last trip-which was car camping, water seemed to collect just outside the bottom of the bucket. Sure enough I noticed a couple of small tears that were very hard to detect. I have had a Cabela water bucket for over 5 years and it's still going strong, so I guess I'll buy another one of those.
