Authors Frederica Merrell and Mira Latoszek are both actively involved in the North Beacon Hill Council and the Jefferson Park Alliance. They have gathered images for this book from sources as diverse as the neighborhood itself, with photographs drawn from the Museum of History and Industry, the Puget Sound Archives, Seattle Public Schools, the Wing Luke Asian Museum, the University of Washington Library Special Collections, the City of Seattle Archives, El Centro de la Raza Photo Archives, the DENSHO Project, the Seattle Times and Post-Intelligencer, the Museum of Flight, and the neighbors of Beacon Hill.

Great summary of little known history of up and coming Seattle neighborhood.,

I especially was interested in the history of how Jefferson Park became a golf course. It seems that in an effort to stop Asian people from picnicking in the park, the local government turned it into a golf course. I wish they would open up more of it to a park again.

Paging through the book was like reliving the glorious hope of the 60's. I would love the book even if my photo from the Seattle Public Schools archives wasn't in it.

Having just started book found it interesting however facts are not accurate as I see it, deleating some of the depth of the history has changed the picture of some of the history. Holly Park Housing is one item I pickedup on so far, will be reading rest of book in the next few weeks.
