If you wish to go back to a time when Sperry's lasted more than six months, look no further than Sebago. The exact same timeless style, but built with quality leather, quality soles, and constructed to last. The second you hold these shoes in your hand you will be blown away with how sturdily constructed they are. The soles are thicker than Topsiders, the leather is stiffer, the stitching is visibly thicker, and the stitching attaching the sole is more deeply recessed.

Everything about this shoe screams quality in a way that makes topsiders seem cheap in comparison. All while costing half as much. Consider me a convert after a lifetime of Topsiders. Sorry Sperry, but you suck.

Wore these in HS and they're just as I remember them, although a little stiff. Takes a long while to break them in. If you need softer leather out of the gate, try some Sperry's.

My heel to toe is 40cm, the length is fit well, but the width is extremely narrow. The leather was a little hard and the color was darker than expected, pure black rather than dark grey in picture.

Shoe is good, fits well but color was a bit different from site picture. The brown is closer to a darker brown than the one pictured for "brown". Outside of that, it is comfortable

I mainly purchased this item due to the color, it was exactly the matte finish/worn-out effect I was looking for. This isn't the first pair of boat shoes I've ever owned but it is my first time to purchase Sebago's (previous boat shoes were Sperry's). They seem solidly built and looks like it can take the pounding of daily use. There is no issues with the fit as they are pretty snug, exactly what I look for in shoes that do not require socks. Everything about the shoes are great, except for the texture/feel of the leather. It is actually on the stiff side and may take quite awhile to break-in. I feel the stitching from inside the shoe on different parts of my foot, so I would suggest to anyone who buys this exact model of shoes NOT to do a lot of walking the very first time you use them. Doing so will definitely result in blistering. In my opinion it will take some time for these babies to stretch out and follow the contours of my foot. There is also a chance they may never do so, only time will tell.

If you are in the market for a pair of deck shoes and fancy yourself the kind of person who prefers to take the (slightly) less travelled path, then Sebago's Docksides are the perfect antidote to the Sperry's everyone else is wearing. Made in the Dominican Republic (like many of Allen Edmonds rubber-soled shoes) with the high quality touches you would expect like rawhide lacing and a leather insole, I have been very happy with my pair. The Cognac shade is a nice light (but not too light) brown and goes well with what under good light almost appears to be a navy sole. The sole, speaking of which, is grippy and has shown to be durable. If I could give them 4.5 stars I would, dropping half a star for a few rough stitches that I had to cut down. Otherwise very pleased, especially at a pricepoint of $40-50.

Sizing runs about a half size big.

I wear this shoes about every other day while walking around a large college campus. The leather was stiff when I first bought them and was prone to scratches. I did not find this that big of a deal. They cut up my feet and callused the area above my heel but just suck it up, not that big of deal. I love the leather insole of the shoes and make wearing these without socks very pleasant. I own a pair of boat shoes with fabric insoles and my feel feel like they are swimming in a pool of sweat after a while; not the case with these shoes. The leather is not very stiff any more after a month or so of wear and are very comfortable. The leather does scratch but this is not very noticeable with consistent wear.

Very good price. Happy I bought these over a pair of Sperry Topsiders.

Ordering shoes or clothes online can be challenging: you are not sure about the color and the sizing. With Amazon, you know that if something is wrong you can count on their great return policy. So I took the chance on the Sebagos after reading the reviews and decided to order the normal size I would get for shoes. And everything was great. Of course you have to expect a pretty long time of breaking-in which meaning that the shoes are pretty stiff and uncomfortable, therefore hurting some parts of your feet. Just keep on wearing them for a few days with socks. Now I can wear shorts, shirts (I live in SW FL) and still go to professional appointments while looking sharp.
    Love them.
