Can't Live Without It April 20, 2010
By TRT
I've been using Sebastian cellophane for many years. And although the original formula was better on my hair, the new formula is still very good. I try to use it (clear or honey blonde) once every four weeks or so. But most recently i had gone without it for about two months, and in the meantime, I tried John Frieda Salon Glaze. It barely did an "okay" job. Then two weeks ago, i finally got another tube of the Sebastian cellophane. Boy do i notice a difference when i use it - my hair is gorgeous (natural shine, smooth strands (each strand seems to be coated with a smooth texture), beautiful body, lovely color). I love love love my hair!!

How i use it:
1. Apply it to dry hair or wet hair, making sure to cover all strands and the ends of hair. It seems that applying it to dry hair makes it permeate hair more, but you'll probably use the product up faster this way; wet hair allows you to spread it over the hair easier, thereby using less of it.

2. Place a plastic baggie over hair and sit under heat for 15-20 min. (Without heat, let baggie sit on hair for a longer time to allow body heat from head to "warm" the hair. If you do it this way, try to tuck hair ends under other parts of hair by rolling it into a french twist-type shape)

3. Apply a good conditioner (e.g., Matrix Biolage conditioning balm) over the hair while it still has the cellophane in it. (I think the cool temperature of the conditioner in contrast to the warm temp of the hair results in the cellophane being "sealed", kind of like what happens when you rinse your hair in cold water to seal the cuticle. Put the plastic baggie back on the hair and sit (with or without heat) for another 10 minutes or more. I usually do heat for about 5-10 min and then let sit without heat for another 5-10 min. But, you'll probably come up with your own way of doing this.

4. Wash, condition and style hair like you normally do.

Stripped my hair November 4, 2009
Just after using it, my hair felt and looked fabulous. It was super soft and silky and shiney as well. But-- my hair started falling out the first time I washed it afterward. Then a few weeks later, my hair started getting frizzy, brittle and frail. A lot of my hair fell out from using this.

If you have thin hair, don't use this.

Misleading! July 8, 2010
By Fats
Color Name:Honey Blonde|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sebastian cellophane is of an excellent quality. Even my hairdresser has me bring my own as it is so much better than the Timeline brand offered at that salon. Unfortunately, the honey blonde had a slightly more red tone than one would expect. We were expecting a golden honey tone to be the dominant color. However, because of its quality, the effect was not cheesy but tasteful, and it blended in nicely. With cellophanes, it always pays to choose a color lighter than you would normally choose.
