I've had a lot of compliments on how healthy my hair looks now.

I wanted golden highlights but this color is more medium to dark brown and not very flattering.

I love this product and recommend it to anyone with highlights as well.

I've been using Sebastian cellophane for many years. And although the original formula was better on my hair, the new formula is still very good. I try to use it (clear or honey blonde) once every four weeks or so. But most recently i had gone without it for about two months, and in the meantime, I tried John Frieda Salon Glaze. It barely did an "okay" job. Then two weeks ago, i finally got another tube of the Sebastian cellophane. Boy do i notice a difference when i use it - my hair is gorgeous (natural shine, smooth strands (each strand seems to be coated with a smooth texture), beautiful body, lovely color). I love love love my hair!!

How i use it:
1. Apply it to dry hair or wet hair, making sure to cover all strands and the ends of hair. It seems that applying it to dry hair makes it permeate hair more, but you'll probably use the product up faster this way; wet hair allows you to spread it over the hair easier, thereby using less of it.

2. Place a plastic baggie over hair and sit under heat for 15-20 min. (Without heat, let baggie sit on hair for a longer time to allow body heat from head to "warm" the hair. If you do it this way, try to tuck hair ends under other parts of hair by rolling it into a french twist-type shape)

3. Apply a good conditioner (e.g., Matrix Biolage conditioning balm) over the hair while it still has the cellophane in it. (I think the cool temperature of the conditioner in contrast to the warm temp of the hair results in the cellophane being "sealed", kind of like what happens when you rinse your hair in cold water to seal the cuticle. Put the plastic baggie back on the hair and sit (with or without heat) for another 10 minutes or more. I usually do heat for about 5-10 min and then let sit without heat for another 5-10 min. But, you'll probably come up with your own way of doing this.

4. Wash, condition and style hair like you normally do.

Just after using it, my hair felt and looked fabulous. It was super soft and silky and shiney as well. But-- my hair started falling out the first time I washed it afterward. Then a few weeks later, my hair started getting frizzy, brittle and frail. A lot of my hair fell out from using this.

If you have thin hair, don't use this.

There really is no other rinse or semi-permanent I would even consider using after using Sebastian. There was a short period of time when the company was reformulating this and it was hard to come by. Baby, let me tell you I suffered during the wait! There was no other rinse that even came close to delivering the shine and color that this one has. I have used the Red Brunette, Deep Brunette, and Gold Red. I love them all but my favorite is Red Brunette. I have a relaxer on African American hair that is Fine in texture and I have never had a problem with breakage from this product. My hair is very healthy and this rinse doesn't detract from that. In fact, I think it helps my hair in a way. At the moment I have highlights in my hair and when I put the Red Brunette over that it just makes my hair have a very sultry effect. My hair always comes out very shiny. I apply it to fresh washed damp hair, and put a conditioning cap on and sit under heat for about 20 min. Like another reviewer mentioned, I too add conditioner over the rinse and wait an additional 10 minutes before rinsing.
Results are fabulous.

use after a perm or color for a ridiculous amount of shine. Also great on any kind of fuzzy hair as it smooths it down. Highly recommended for anyone who wants beautiful shine and manageability.

beware using this if your hair is already color-treated--test it first on a strand of hair before doing your whole head.

Sebastian cellophane is of an excellent quality. Even my hairdresser has me bring my own as it is so much better than the Timeline brand offered at that salon. Unfortunately, the honey blonde had a slightly more red tone than one would expect. We were expecting a golden honey tone to be the dominant color. However, because of its quality, the effect was not cheesy but tasteful, and it blended in nicely. With cellophanes, it always pays to choose a color lighter than you would normally choose.

OK, ITS 12/6/13 AND THIS IS MY FINAL EDITED VERSION OF MY REVIEW AFTER MORE PRODUCT CHANGES:

I am a 47 yr. old African American woman who has dyed my hair, both permanent and temporary, since I was 19 years old. After relaxing my hair I put in a temporary color that I have used for years, (EZ Glam temporary color). After about 2 weeks I started to experience tingling and itching of the scalp and my hair was falling out from the root. I could not go a day without taking Benedryl and itching like crazy. My reaction lasted approximately 6-8 weeks. After doing hours of research on the internet as well as seeing a Dermatologist, I discovered that I had developed a PPD allergy. PPD is PHENYLENEDIAMINE (also called paraphenylenediamine or p-phenylenediamine and is in most permanent hair dyes but can also be found in temporary hair color. In approximately 5 different countries (Sweden, Europe, etc.) the use of PPD's has been banned because of the high rate of allergic reactions and in some cases caused DEATH. As a result I thought I couldn't color my hair again until I found SEBASTIAN CELLOPHANES.

Sebastian Cellophanes does not contain any PPD's of any kind and MAY BE safe for sensitive people. Initially, after using it within approximately 2 weeks there was still some shedding, however my doctor explained that it sometimes takes a while for the effects to stop completely. After continued use my hair started to shed again especially when I washed it. Also after every shampoo my scalp would be sore to the touch for days. I WILL NOT BE USING THIS PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!!!! It may just be me and all my allergies; however after repeated use my scalp felt tight, I had headaches and my hair fell out from the follicle.
