Book Description

If you’ve never shot yourself in the chest, Sebastian Cupid can tell you it hurts like hell. Still, he’d rather take three bullets to any part of his anatomy than find his brother’s body in an alley, drained of blood. Now Sebastian is facing an inquiry from three gods while an innocent mortal lies comatose in a bed just down the hall, and she’s the only eye witness.

Armed with next to no information and a lifelong history of resentment, Sebastian’s only pool for suspects is his step-family, who uses questionable methods to spread hate in the mortal world. But then disappearances begin to happen on both sides of the family. As gods clash and Temples fall, they pit power against power to survive. Little do they realize, the only one that can save them is the least powerful of them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've ever read March 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
JJ Martin's "Sebastian Cupid" is the BEST book I've read in years! It is both exciting and stirring. The author's writing is seamless, filled with intriguing characters and storylines. I finished reading it in one day! It is so good that it gave me goosebumps and renewed my interest in mythology. It's only available as an e-book right now, but it would make a great paperback or even movie. I give this book 5 stars and I can't wait for the sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Roman Mythology in Modern Times March 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Sebastian Cupid: The Arrows" by JJ Martin instantly reminded me of the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series by Rick Riordan in that both stories are based on mythological characters. But while both contain many suspenseful and action-packed fight scenes between the forces of good and evil, the similarity ends there. Sebastian Cupid and the other Arrows are older than the lead teen characters in Riordan's books. This book by JJ Martin is about some Roman gods battling each other for supremacy, with the help of other immortals, mortals and in-betweens.

I am happy to have found this book because I liked studying mythology when I was still in school. The familiar storyline of good versus evil is given a mythological backdrop with a modern setting. The universal themes of love, loyalty, trust and duty are severely tested by sowers of intrigue, betrayal and greed. The lead character Sebastian Cupid is a complex character who mirrors the conflict of emotions of the mortals that he tries to help in the area of love.

This is an enjoyable read because it combines many elements that will hook the reader from start to finish. It entertains with its story twists, quick pace and touches of humor. I am looking forward to the second book in the series.

JJ Martin has once again lured me out of my comfort genre. I loved Porter House, and was thrilled to see that she had a new book. I have to admit, I was skeptical. I am not a big fan of the Fantasy Genre, or series, but I gave it a shot.
I am so glad I did.
I wanted to read something entertaining that would draw me in and keep my attention that would also have enough of a story to make me care about the characters.
Sebastian Cupid is an Arrow. (Don't give up, it makes sense and you'll love him). His troubles begin when he is caught perfecting away to break hearts. I thought I knew where this story was going, but then the first bend in the story pops in. I got very attached to Sebastian as I followed him through this adventure filled with mystery, subterfuge, historical intrigue, and of course, romance.
The story builds on archetypical characters that I thought I knew well and kept my attention as I hung on every word. I can't wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice story June 8, 2012

I have always been a fan of mythology, so naturally I got this book. I was far from disappointed. It had everything you could want in a book. If you like the dark hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon then you will love this book. You should get it and read it. I think you will be happy you did! It has the sexy immortals, and the big fight scenes, love, you name it. I can't wait fo the next book if it is half as good as this book it will be great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where is Book Two? January 20, 2013

Because I can't wait to read what happens next--which is always an indication of a great read!

Gods, Demigods, Demons, and the Gods' children.....namely, the Arrows. This was a great mythology story with romance and action. You don't have to like Mythology to love this book.

One question, though....why did the Demigod (part mortal, part God) seem to have more powers than some of the Gods? Just saying....not complaining......

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so loving it! :) March 27, 2012

If by any chance, you are not exactly keen about buying stuffs that are more inclined to mythology, you might end up being the sore loser if you continue to do so without reading this very interesting read, again, by JJ Martin.

The circumstances are surreal and for some time, while reading the book, I thought of joining the characters especially Sebastian. Martin did not fail to surprise me as she gave twists and bumps especially near the end of such an amazing literature.

As for the romantic sucker in me, I guess the book did a great deal.

I will have to look forward for the next read.
