This review is from: The Second Betrayal: A Lexi Steele Novel (Lexi Steele Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
Let me preface by saying I like Cheyenne McCray's writing. I really do. I've been a fan of hers from the beginning. I understand the whole romantica genre that is on the uprise however, I was disgusted by this book. This book is about sex slaves that are "imported" from countries around the world. Lexi and Nick work on the RED team mission to put a stop sex slave ring. The story line sounded interesting and since I like her writing I thought I'd give it a chance.
For me this book was too graphic in the area of torturing the women. She even references using a battery and electrical wires. It got to the point where I literally skimmed past those chapters. I felt dirty after reading the book. Something I've never felt before.
I know this review doesn't go into detail about the plot. I haven't written a review in a long time, however, I felt like it was necessary to give a fair warning to other readers. I was shocked when I got to some of the parts and literally felt vile. A fun summer romance read this was not.

This review is from: The Second Betrayal: A Lexi Steele Novel (Lexi Steele Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have been waiting for this book from the minute I put down the first book in this series and it was worth the wait. For all you people who read The First Sin and loved it, this one was every bit as good, if not better. The Second Betrayal had me hooked from beginning to end. It was full of Action, Romance and eroticism. I was so into the book that it played like a movie in my head and had me thinking that these were real people I was reading about. I absolutely love Lexi and Nick, those 2 can really kick butt. The bad guy in this book has got to be the wickedess man that I have ever read. The only problem now is, when will Cheyenne write the next Lexi Steele book? Cheyenne if your reading this, MORE Lexi Steele books please.

This review is from: The Second Betrayal: A Lexi Steele Novel (Lexi Steele Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'll have to say I'm not fond of first person stories, but the author did a great job with the first book, First Sin, and this book, The Second Betrayal. I only wish Lexi and Donovan had more scenes. They focused more on trying to find the guy who is trafficking people for money than on their relationship. The ending was sour, could have been more to it. But then again, the book seems to miss something that the first book offered more of, emotions.
I hope that if there's a third book, that the writer will focus the book on the relationship with Lexi and Donovan.
