Product Description

Tony O'Neill is not having a good day. He is unemployed and broke, with a wife and child to support. Even worse, he's living with his snobbish mother-in-law. They don't get along.
Bridie Feeney is mad. She's just had a fight with her son-in-law and daughter. Bitter words have been spoken. But she is not going to apologize...

Dave Cummins needs a fix ... bad. It's the worst day of his life. He knows he's going to do something he swore he'd never do.

Sarah Collins is looking forward to a day in town. She’s been planning for ages ... then the unthinkable happens.

It's a day none of them will ever forget. But for two, it's the day they get a second chance.

Patricia Scanlan was born in Dublin, where she lives today. Her previous bestsellers include: City Girl, Finishing Touches, Francesca’s Party, Two for Joy, Double Wedding, and most recently Divided Loyalties. She is also the Series Editor and contributing author to the Open Door series, published by Gemma. Patricia teaches creative writing and is deeply involved in adult literacy.

THE OPEN DOOR SERIES: An innovative program of original works by some of our most beloved modern writers that was first designed to enhance adult literacy in Ireland. Yet these fresh stories are much more, showcasing new writing from authors such as Roddy Doyle, Nick Hornby, Maeve Binchy and a pantheon of talent. Six charming books will be published each and every season.

I was reading and enjoying the book.Suddenly it was over.I downloaded again and it was the same. Then I checked the product page to make sure and it is only 77 pages for 9.99$.Feels like an unfinished story as well.Do not buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open Door Series available at amazon, October 3, 2011

Wonderful series of books with easy vocabulary for adults learning to read. They are written by famous Irish authors. There is some Irish slang but it is easy to figure out or look up on line. I am a volunteer literacy tutor and the students love these books. I've heard that some American writers are also beginning to write for new readers.
