One of the most significant & best-written Americana records of the year.,

This review is from: Second Chances (Audio CD)
This artist first caught my attention when I heard Buddy Lee was an American War Hero. Then I learned that Buddy experienced a massive head injury from a roadside bomb in Iraq. Following a steep uphill battle towards recovery, Buddy learned to play guitar again under the wing of legendary songwriter/guitarist Craig Hillis (Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphy). And then through some contacts with American Veterans' organizations, Buddy hooked up with triple platinum recording artist Jamie Oldaker (The Tractors) who agreed to help produce, write and perform on Buddy's debut record "Second Chances". Buddy completely holds his own on this record but it certainly doesn't hurt to be backed by seasoned studio vets like Oldaker on drums, Brian Standefer on cello, Bukka Allen on keys and Jeff Plankenhorn on pedal steel. This record reels you in immediately with the lead off single "Boots" which takes one of the best hooks in the history of American/Alt Country and couples it with catchy lyrics filled with sincerity, humility, and a sense of humor. Other standouts include the infectious sing-a-long "Recipe For Love", the visually epic "City Lights", and the tear-soaked ballads "Heroes" and "Soldier's Prayer". Support a War Vet and quality Texas Americana at the same time by buying this winner of a record!
