Gotta dig to find gold!,
By
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
There are several ways to describe great roots reggae. Gondwana's "Second Coming", demands these types of descriptions. As we continue to separate the roots from the dancehall, it is becoming more and more difficult to find good roots, especially those that come with the original, evolutionary sounds. Well, Gondwana has placed itself in this particular category. With dynamic sounds, and positive vibes, Gondwana's bi-lingual approach to making music is nothing short of phenomenal. "Second Coming" drops the reggae beats that many bands we hear today can only attempt to duplicate. Smooth vibes, heaven sent horns, and beautiful lyrics saturate this album in every song. Please give it a listen with love and apprecication. You will quickly see that it is difficult these days to find a group that upholds the integrity, and quality that is only found in true roots reggae. Big ups to everyone out there that truly enjoys only the best!

One of my FAVORITE reggae albums,
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
I first learned about Gondwana about 8 years ago, when I purchased a dvd from Amazon that had a bunch of reggae videos (MTV style) including songs from Israel Vibration, Yellowman, Culture and (of course) Gondwana. "Antonia" and "Verde, Amarillo y Rojo" were both on that dvd, and I just loved their amazing blend of roots reggae and horns (I'm a sucker for horns, especially the trombone). I recently purchased Gondwana - live in Buenos Aires (dvd) from Amazon, and I just loved the live performances. Using a peer to peer network, I stumbled upon the song "Alabanza" (which, by the way is NOT available on iTunes - neither is this album, for some very strange reason). I absolutely LOVE that song!! This album has some of their very best work on it, and I would HIGHLY recommend it to any roots lover out there. Trust me, you will not be disappointed....and you might even learn a little Spanish on the way. Chile's best export, if you ask me.
