3.0 out of 5 stars She asked me why..., August 3, 2008

...Why, I'm a hairy guy. I'm hairy noon and nighty-night-night.

And so opens The Dickies, "Second Coming" album.

This by the silliest cartoon style, somewhat punk group from CaliforNIA. And if you loved "The Incredible Shrinking Dickies", and "Dawn of the Dickies" from the decade previous, then you'll probably like this collection of silly songs. Really. "Hair" alone is worth the price (whatever that may be) of the CD. But instant classics (just like Kool-Aid and...) like "I'm Stan" keep the laughs a comin'...for a second time, I guess. You're not gonna play this thing over and over again probably. But there are enough memorable moments to throw your money at, especially with the addition of the "Killer Klowns" EP. Can you sing Eep-Op-Orp-Ah, Ah without a lyrics sheet? I thought cha could!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dickies dude..., June 11, 2008
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Second Coming (Reis) (Audio CD)
Back in '89 my friend was listening to this bizzare music. Every time I would go over to his house it was on. After a few weeks I actually listened to it and life hasn't been the same since.

The Dickies 2nd coming was my first exposure to any type of punk. It was fun, different and sorta funny, I very much liked this album.

Now a zillion years later I see that it's re released. Awesome, I bought this on tape twice over the years and cd a few times but my brother would "borrow" them, never to be seen agian. So I order the cd and wait.

Ok, so the cd get to my house in record time and I tear it open, First the bad. The beautiful cover looks bad, Obviously a bad scan job, waayy too dark, same for the band pics on the back of the front cover. The lyrics in between are nice. The disc no longer has the gold and black gothic graphics and are replaced by a much nicer looking version of the front cover. When you remove the disc, again a much better version of the band pics, not sure why they didn't use the nicer one for the cover too. On the back is a shot of a killer clown.

Sound quality is great and the only differnce I can tell at all is that "going homo" and "cross eyed tammy" seemed to almost roll over each other in the old version. We also get bonus tracks, as far as I can tell they stuck on the dickies LP from '88 on the end of the album. Killer Klowns is a good addition but you get bogged down with the single version of boobytrap (which seems to be the same as the album version) a song we just heard 5 track before. Jim Bowie is pretty cool but then hear comes a lesser version of Magoomba which just played right after the first Booby trap. The album ends with probably the best cover of EEP OPP ORK ever, very cartoonie with an old school rock flavor and very funny. 9.5/10
