5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must have
Do yourself a huge favor and pick up this CD. Any fan of guitar driven rock and roll will love this offering from Shotgun Messiah. A band that starts their CD off with a song entitled "Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll" is a band for me. Shotgun Messiah's guitarist, Harry Cody, can deliver the goods as good as, and or, better than most of his contemporaries that enjoyed way more...

3.0 out of 5 stars Shotgun Messiah version 2
I am a big fan of the first album by Shotgun Messiah so I decided to picked this cassette up. I think this album rocks pretty hard, but I don't think it really reflects the original Shotgun Messiah. To me Zinny J. San was Shotgun Messiah. Zinny's voice was so different from anything I had heard previous. After they replaced him their sound was drastically different. Tim...

Do yourself a huge favor and pick up this CD. Any fan of guitar driven rock and roll will love this offering from Shotgun Messiah. A band that starts their CD off with a song entitled "Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll" is a band for me. Shotgun Messiah's guitarist, Harry Cody, can deliver the goods as good as, and or, better than most of his contemporaries that enjoyed way more success than he. He should be, without a doubt, herald in the same catagory as Guitar Gods like George Lynch, Vivian Campbell, Nuno Bettencourt, etc, etc. Bold statement I know, but just listen to him shred on this CD and you too will agree. I think everyone has some sleeper CDs in their collection that they love but didn't get mass attention. This is one of those. It's also one of those CDs that you can listen to over and over again and it still sends chills up your spine everytime. The song "Heartbreak Blvd." received some commercial air play, but that was about all the attention this release was given. Too bad, because it's not the best song on the CD. The songs are hard and heavy (with a few slow ones) but still possess strong melodies that is missing from a lot of hard rock. You will be able to rock out and still sing to the songs at the same time. "Second Coming" will completely satisfy the most die hard, hard rock fan. Get it, crank it, love it. Trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is how music should sound!, October 10, 2002

Thank you Tim Skold and Hary Cody, you have enlightened me and given me many special moments with your music. THE MUSIC IS AWESOME and Im really suprised that these two guys arent sitting in a studio writing hit music today for Britney like Max Martin (another Swedish hardrocker) does. Cause the reason for me saying so is that Tim Skold and Harry Cody is probably two of the most talented songwriters around.
Nobody can call themself a true Hardrocker unless they heard about Shotgun Messiah....

THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!
Thank god Tim SKold got something going on with Marilyn Manson...so I look forward to that Marilyn Record that will be released soon...
What ever happend to Harry Cody? I wanna hear his new songs....Cody you gotta let us fans hear your music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truely a natural high, September 15, 1998
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
Tim was the bassist on the first record, but why they didn't start him out as vocalist, I'll never know. He defines Shotgun Messiah's sound. His voice is so heavy and it runs oh so smooth over Cody's shredding rifs. In the short time they had together, they created one of my favorite records. Catch Skold now with KMFDM on "Anarchy", obviously my favorite track on the "Symbols" album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Sleeper album of the 80's genre, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
I know alot of people have their favorite "sleeper albums" of the 80's. I have alot of them in my collection. Second Coming, is a hard rock masterpiece. This album is hard to describe. Hary Cody is by far one of the most under-rated guitarists of all time. This album has the sleaze, it has the hard driving rhythm guitars, the virtuoso style leads, the melodies, the glam and even the punk that makes this album so different than most. But, it's put together perfectly.
Every song is awesome, but the strong points are:
Sex, Drugs Rocknroll, Nobody's Home, I want more, The amazing Ride the Storm ( a great ballad with an amazing solo), Babylon, You & me! The solo on the ballad Living without you will not disapoint either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocks, March 16, 2008
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
Clearly D mcclna something must be a youngn. This album simply rocks and is before all of that grunge music in which you had no idea what band was playing cause it all sounded the same. Nirvana STP Temple of Dogs Sound Garden are all played on Sirius radio now and I can never tell who is playing. I always have to look at the display to figure out who it is!! This is not the issue with Shotgun Messiah. Play it and I will know it from a mile away!!

This is Shotguns best work and has some of Harrys best riffs. Heard Harry was out of the music business and is writing for commercials in LA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Song for Song, one of the best albums, April 1, 2005
This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
As a big fan of rock and metal I have to say that this was one of the greatest albums I have ever listened to. Song for song it refuses to let me down, just the epic sound enough is something I wish I had more of. I know little of the band at this point, but there must have been some serious issues that caused them not to become a mega rock band. Very glad I was recommended to this album and plan on soon picking up their self-titled album. An amazing sound and unique style, wow.

5.0 out of 5 stars great hard rock album, shut up johnny, I mean zinny, March 5, 2005

with the exception of the reviewer Johnny Angel who I think is the old singer for shotgun, Zinny j. Zan, I believe most hard rock fans will find this album indespensable. It is true SM changed and evolved on each successive release. The first cd was glam, decent but not great. This cd, straight ahead hard rock, delivered better than most of thier competition. The third cd, violent new breed(my personal favorite) was industrial metal. The true test of any band is the quality of the songs. This band passes with flying colors! Second Coming Starts out strong and caries you on a journey through many different styles of rock, each one delivered with power and grace. Not a bad song in the bunch. Looking back so many years later, all that matters is the music, not labels and this is great music. When a band can change styles and still be better at those styles than the bands that stick with their formula, that just proves their veratility and incredible talent.
