As a curious person with great respect for Sacred Scripture, this commentary is exactly what I have been looking for. It is scholarly yet without losing anything of the pastoral. The reader is not burdened with meaningless technical terms. Stegman gives his commentary in such a way that the reader can feel as though s/he is sitting at a table with Stegman discussing how this work of Scripture might open up fuller meaning for them. Fr. Stegman gives his viewpoint on the meaning of texts but also points out those ideas that understand some phrase differently than he does. Throughout the book there are a series of grey boxes on various pages that gives some further information beyond simple commentary. While serious Scripture scholars will be interested in Stegman's insights, those of us who have more limited education in the Bible and Biblical languages can feel as though it was written for us as well. Highly recommended for later secondary and college classes.
