Product Description

Play ball! When Arthur makes the Little League team he is thrilled-but worries that he won't be able to play as well as his friends. He tries hard, but keeps making mistakes! The first game creeps closer-will Arthur be able to show his teammates they can count on him? Features: Pronounce and define new vocabulary words, Answer questions about plot, theme, characters and setting, Begin reading chapter books, and develop reading fluency, Play fun interactive games and activities! Learn to love reading with the popular Arthur Adventure series.

LeapPad system's unique, multisensory interface already allows kids to enhance reading skills without making it seem like work. But this book has the added attraction of featuring Arthur, as he makes the neighborhood baseball team, and attempts to prove his worth. Kids will exercise the use of simple chapter books, new words, reading comprehension, and distinguish between plot, setting, character roles, and theme.

It's simple to use (kids insert the cartridge and book into their LeapPads, and use the attached stylus to hear information), but this system is an innovative technology that provides entertaining, effective learning, designed by a Stanford-trained reading expert. As well, the system has been credited with the TMA's Educational Toy of the Year and People's Choice awards. The books are designed to correlate with national academic standards for the grade levels they target.

Two notes: Make sure the LeapPad book you get is appropriate for the child's educational level; this one should be a challenge for kids up to age 8. As well, know that some LeapBooks work on both LeapPad and LeapPad Pro, like this one, but some books only work with one system. --Diane Beall

The leap 2 books are definately more difficult than the Leap 1 books, but my daughter really sticks with them. Arthur Makes the Team is especially interesting to her since she plays teeball. The games add some fun to the sometimes tedious reading. Overall, worth the cost.
