5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Metalcore Bands Ever, September 15, 2004

The Odd Project, what can you say about them, they are extremley talented for one. The guitar players are insane, and they definatley have a different style, and their vocalist has a fine tuned metal voice. their backup vocals make it sound almost post hardcore at points. But the point is this is one of the best and most unique metalcore bands out there, and if you can try to find their july 2003 demo and october 2002 demo because they are really good too.

5.0 out of 5 stars crushing, yet beautiful, December 21, 2004

From the first scream on "Statistics like Cigarettes", to the last piano driven tear on "Silver Screen Lovers", Odd Project hit you hard with their ground breaking approach to modern day hardcore metal. Although they don't fit into any specific genre due to the mass influences they bring, the album can best be described as emotional. And I'm not talking about the kind of emotional that you see on MTV. I'm talking about the kind that makes you sit back and say, "Wow!" The music seems to describe the mood that the lyrical content provides. The songs are unpredictable, and you won't hear any generic breakdowns. If there is a breakdown, it will hit you when you least expect it. The best thing about this album is how you can relate to every song, especially "Silver Screen Lovers". Odd Project just has a way of putting the pictures in your head to music. Every song is just as good as the next, only to be divided by the two emotional, almost depressing tracks, "Love", and "The Wanderer". I highly recommend this album to anybody who is looking for that creative spark in the music industry.

4.0 out of 5 stars good album, May 29, 2006
This review is from: Second Hand Stopped (Audio CD)
This album was well put together for the most part. This album contains a good mix of guitar harmonies as well as some chaotic vocal harmonies in a few songs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eh, 3.5, May 27, 2006

I think most people on here think the same about this album. I had heard the song Tear Stained Lies many times before considering this album, so when I do this is what happens...
I put the cd in...put it on track 5 and get ready for the most kick ass song ever...instead I listened to the same song, BUT it seemed like they were putting me to sleep!!!

arg...that song would have given this cd a 5 EASILY...I hav'nt fully listened to the cd since then...not enough time.

To keep from disappointment, if buying this cd dont listen to there old versions of the song...then it wont be a schock lol

.:Edit:.
After further listening, its not TERRIBLE, just not the greatest...but i must say they have some great talent when it comes to there more melow tunes "Love" and "The Wanderer" (prefereably, Love is probably my favorite track on here)
4 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat, May 31, 2005
This review is from: Second Hand Stopped (Audio CD)
The demos were far better than the songs re-recorded for this CD. As another reviewer said, the songs were slowed down and a lot of the emotion was taken out not only the vocals, but the instruments aswell. Still, not a bad CD... definetly a must for fans of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet -era Avenged Sevenfold.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 4 or 4.5, February 16, 2005

The songs Tear Staind Lies, Hero's Trial, and a perfect smile and broken wings were much better on the demos I thought. Sounds to me like they slowed it down and took most of the feeling out of them. Still good songs, just not as good as before. Overall a great record too, so buy it. And what were they thinking not putting ballad for a liar on here? I enjoy the demo versions more. Still, the album is great. So is silver screen lovers.
