This is still the "bechmark" commentary on II Corinthians., August 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Second Letter to the Corinthians (Hardcover)
Rudolf Bultmann continues to cast a long shadow over contemporary New Testament studies, even now almost a quarter century after his death. In many areas of New Testament research, Bultmann's work remains as a "benchmark" by which more recent works must be seen.
The commentary on II Corinthians is just such a bechmark. Originally written in German, this English edition was published in 1985 and for my money is still one of the premire commentaries on this most difficult of Pauline epistles.
Bultmann's style here is clear and concise, assited by the excellent translation by Roy Harrisville. Readers will need at least a passing knowledge of biblical Greek to benefit from this commentary, but it is well worth the investment.
