4.0 out of 5 stars Second Prize, April 23, 2011
This review is from: Second Prize (Paperback)
Have you ever been in love with the idea of someone? Lara Fenton is 25 years old and she's been without any kind of love or romance for two years. She's been hurt and is afraid to get back in the game of love. Enter Hugh Armstrong-Hamilton. He's handsome, wealthy, and debonair. And all of a sudden, Lara is back in the game.

The problem is Hugh runs hot and cold. Not once, not twice, but three times. And what does Lara do? She overlooks his faults and takes him back every time. I'm sure we've all heard of the adage, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." It's hard to watch her succumb every time High comes back into her orbit. I mean she knows how much of a prat he is, but she just can't give him up. The other adage applicable here is, "A tiger never changes his spots," er rather stripes. It's to the point where she won't give any of the good guys a chance.

Thank goodness she eventually sees the light and moves on. Besides Lara hurting herself over and over again, the book was really quite good. It was easy to get into and is a perfect fit for the beach or a couple of hours of free time. It's Chris Manby at her best. Happy reading! :)
