2nd one, as good as the first.,
This review is from: Second Sighting (Audio CD)
This is the 2nd album by the comet, and it is as good as the first one. His guitar work on this album is more mainlined but just as heavy, and well worth the money. Stand out tracks include, The Acorn is spinning, and Loser in a Fight. This album plain rocks!

Underrated Classic!,

I don't agree with the other reviews. I think every song on this disc is great! While I prefer Ace to Todd Haworth, Haworth cowrote both of the "Frehley's Comet" albums. His songs are good, though, especially "Time Ain't Running Out"! This don't sound anymore like glam metal than any of Ace's post - Kiss material. Giove this a shot. You won't be sorry!

Very Good Underrated Album,

I've listened to this album a lot over the last couple of years and I personally think it's better than the first. I enjoy all the songs except maybe Time Ain't Runnin' Out.
A couple of the songs could have been recorded with a little more oomph, listen to Separate on this album and its OK, listen to the live version on Loaded Deck and its brilliant. Juvenile Delinquent is also a little slow, when they played it live at the Limelight Club at the start of the second tour it really rocked. The best song on the album I would say is It's Over Now, which is a great ballad. Insane is a great tune too. Definitely buy this is you're a fan of Ace, just don't expect hard rock.

Excellent example of Ace's guitar and 80's pop metal.,

Second Sighting is an excellent follow-up to 1987's Frehley's Comet. Though Tod Howarth's vocals take up 5 of the songs on the album, Ace still pops up to sing on the majority of the tracks. Insane opens Second Sighting and sets the mood for similar material as Frehley's Comet--straight-up, guitar-based rock. Insane is a good rocker from Ace which is one of the better tracks. Time Ain't Runnin' Out is one of Tod Howarth's better performances without too much screaming. Dancin' With Danger is a middle-of-the-road track from Ace which showcases his vocals and blazing guitar. Despite its rather sappy tone (which was all the rage at the time), It's Over Now, a ballad from Tod Howarth, is the best song on the album. Loser In A Fight is another forgettable track. Juvenille Delinquent is a standard Ace rocker--nothing fancy, just OK, but it does have a great feedback and effects intro. Fallen Angel really doesn't fit. It's almost as if it was written and recorded by someone else and dropped on to Second Sighting accidentally. Separate has a cool riff and rap-type delivery by Ace. New Kind of Lover is more cookie-cutter material from Mr. Howarth. I wonder if this guy can write anything that doesn't have "Aaaaahhhhh!!!" as its main lyrical component? The Acorn Is Spinning is Ace's obligatory guitar-doodling inclusion...but with a twist; it's almost like a soundtrack for a short film about a boxer who takes a dive. I like Ace's cackling at the end of the song. Jamie Oldaker's drums also really add to this song's groove. Great stuff! Second Sighting doesn't quite measure up to Frehley's Comet but it is a worthy inclusion in Ace's catalogue. Unfortunately the songs are a little too commercial thanks to the late 80's trends and Tod Howarth's more dominant presence than on the previous album. Still, Second Sighting gives us another dose of Ace which is always a good thing.

Ace Frehley is God.,

Alot of customers bash Second Sighting for its commercial appeal, but the power ballads on here are some of the most powerful, catchy rock-ballads EVER. Tod Howarth's high pitched singing tone might annoy. but Ace has never sung a ballad ever,so I guess i'd rather hear Howarth's ballads than Ace trying to struggle through a softer song.Ace's best work is his Raw rock tunesbut Ace Frehley's raw rock n roll voice makes this album worth it.
1.Insane-This is undoubtably Frehleys best song on here it just leaves you beggin for more. 2.Time Aint Runnin Out-One of the more rocking ballads on here, still a solid track though. 3.Dancing With Danger-Ace at his rocking best 4.It's Over Now-Todd Howarth's epic love song. 5.Loser in A Fight-both Ace and Tod sing on this one, probably one of the weaker songs on here 6.Juvinile Delinquent-Powerful,anthemic,great song. 7.Fallen Angel-Another Howarth ballad, this one is one of the catchier power ballads. 8.Seperate-Great song, great guitar work, great hook. 9.New Kind Of Lover-Tod Howarth REALLY lets loose his rock n roll talent here.best Howarth tune since "Breakout" from Frehleys Comet. 10.The Acorn is Spinning-Ace's fast, powerful, shredding guitar work reminds us why he's one of the greats. Best Songs:Insane,Dancing With Danger,New Kind Of Lover Worth it.

Always liked this one better than the debut. Slightly better that Trouble Walkin. Just has a good mix of Rock tracks and lighter, yet good, melodic tracks. Not all are great, but the good are Classic Ace.
Best: Insane - Great, typical Ace track. Good Chorus, catchy and great production. Seperate - Same as stated above. Love it. Sounds fresh to this day with a great solo. Dancin with Danger - Excellent, driving synth based track that was pretty unique for its time. Solid and memorable. Loser in a Fight - My personal favorite. Good vocal exchange between Ace and Howarth and cool chorus. A real grower. Time Aint Runnin Out - Well executed ballad by Howarth that is well sung and has a good 80's chorus style. Quality. Its Over Now - Good rock/ballad and a nice chorus. Another good Howarth track. The others are decent enough, but more on the filler side IMO. Though the instrumental closer is decent too. This is my favorite Ace solo disc because the rock tracks are very rocking and the softer songs are of quality. Not just soft for airplay purposes. They are good, well written tracks and not overtly 80's style corny with keyboards and syrupy choruses. The lyrics to some are not the best (as that was not Ace's strong point) especially on 'Juvenile Delinquent' which really hurts the song, but overall a nice diverse mix of tracks are on here and its got some really good soloing as well. Even after the Decent 'Anomaly', this is still my favorite Ace solo CD. Ace never had a CD that hit it out of the park. They all have inconsistencies and weaknesses, this one has the least weaknesses. Pick it up if you find for a decent price.

This cd has got mixed reviews in the past for good reason. I've found that with the second & following listenings I liked it more & more. I would recommend you get the original 1988 release if you want the full artwork, the 98 & 09 versions only have parts of it. I can give this cd a B- or B rating.

I purchased every Ace Frehley album during the 80's and this is the most consistant. Song writing is tight and vocals by both Ace and Todd are superb. A must have.

Second Time's a Charm for Ace!,
This review is from: Second Sighting (Audio CD)
As a devoted KISS fan this album is second only to Ace's first solo album in my book. Every riff and solo is memorable with the classic Frehley guitar tricks I felt were missing on the first Frehley's Comet album. From "Insane" to "Juvenile Delinquent" to the trade-off lyrics of "Loser In A Fight" this album never stops rockin'. Todd Howarth captures the feel of the 80's glam rock bands in his songs like "Fallen Angel" and "Time Aint' Runnin'Out" which really rounds out the album. Also, the density of sound on "Second Sighting" surpasses the first Frehley's Comet album by far. If you love Ace, add this to your collection.
