Funky souly gutsy 70s bluesrock with a sensitive side. This is *so* much better than the rather banal first album. The band's sound is quite complex in places and there are few weaknesses in terms of musicianship (*everything* is good). Many tracks are characterized by interesting and unusual changes of key and pace, e.g., the band can go from an upbeat funky style to melancholy in a few bars (Leaves in the Wind): impressive. Most of the songs are about either lost love or love gone bad -- right in the Free / Bad Company tradition. Favourite tracks: Blue Soul; Stop Doing What You're Doing; Sweet Sweet Beauty. This stuff is 30 years old in 2006: they just don't make 'em like this anymore. Its a classic but known to only a few.

This album was one of Paul Kossoff's best. This is a must listen to those of us who remember bands like Crawler (what this band became) and Charlie (a band that later infused some members of Crawler). Yes, it is the rougher edge of the 70's harmony and fusion type of bands, but lets face it...no matter if it was the rowdier or poppier side - we bought this stuff and loved it! Since it is no longer available, I suggest the import Back Street Crawler. I have that one on LP as well and still enjoy it.

This is Koss`s epitaph..leaves in the wind indeed.
This album demonstrates why Koss had more soul in his little finger than the speed freaks of flash guitar.
If this album doesn`t move you,check your pulse!

A real shame this is not available -- I have been looking for it for a few years and still no go (not even on iTunes, which also has the first BSC album). As another reviewer pointed out, the first album is NOWHERE NEAR as good as this one: Kossoff wails/soars above the band: no-one has played guitar quite like that, then or since. There are some very wistful tracks to complement the more funky ones ("Stop Doin' what you're Doin'"). Its like the band suddenly got sensitive after a really pretty banal first album. Perhaps they knew it would be Kossoff's last album.... and OK, it might be part nostalgia... but there is also musical merit in this album: in short, its worth keeping alive.

A wonderful final recording from Paul Kossoff, with some great songs. (although, I have seen comment that a lot of the guitar work was performed by a Paul Kossoff imitator, called Buzz Walden; who is curiously mentioned and acknlowledged on the back album cover). Whatever. There are some great songs here; from the very soul like Some Kind of Happy, thru to the more rocky (but well-balanced) Selfish Lover and Just For You with ballads Sweey Beauty and Leaves in the Wind rounding the album out. The latter been particularly poignant, given this LP was released after Paul Kossoff's death.

It is a much stronger (though not as gritty) recording than the first recording, When The Band Plays On..

I wonder when this recording will be re-released on CD; as I am relying on a Vinyl recording that I digitised onto CD.

Paul Kossoff left us 2 early but he left us with some really fine music. This is Koss's last album, and maybe his best, his guitar work is very good, it's too bad this work is not known by a lot of people. Don't pass up this cd if U love the blues.
