Mystery - romance- and a twist,

Great novel for 8-12 year olds. Has adventure, mystery and the plot twists. Secret Agent Squirrel (Roddy) is a really fun furry fella. I look forward to reading more books about him. The best part is there are no curse words, no risque scenes and a plot that makes sense.

I liked the book. Roddy sounds so funny. I wished he had married the girl mouse.

The book has potential, but needs some good editorial assistance. I found the story line choppy. I am sure Ms. Chinnery has more back story in her mind, so for her the story flows, but it does not flow for the first time reader. (it was still disjointed when I read it a second time) The author does not take the time to set up the justification for the interspecies war, especially after the arch villian is dealt with before the final battle takes place. More detail would make a fuller, more satisfying story. I also find it unbelievable the squirrel agent is successful passing himself off as a mouse.
Do keep writing young lady, you have an interesting concept, but it needs work. It would stand up fairly well in anthology of high-school writing, but it does not hold up as a story for inclusion in a library. Re-writing is a sign of success, not failure. ;) (P.S. I did note that the best review was written by the author's father.) A librarian's point of view

A Dark Tail,

This disurbing tale of a defamed, antagonistic squirrel with a chip on his shoulder and a penchant for asian rodents was just what I needed to get me out of the great mood I was in. It is a sorrid story of a quiet, yet not quiet marsupial trying to find balance between the unforgiving corporate eschelons to which he is a slave and his traditonal values as a simple Skyline pest. The pages seem to turn themselves as our tragic hero, the Secret Squirrel, plays into his own stark demise. If you enjoyed "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" but found "Curious George Goes to Jail" too heavy, this is the book for you.
