5.0 out of 5 stars dealership will someday rule the world.
after you buy this album (which i know you will), one of the first things you'll notice is a big star that says POP in the middle when you open the jewel case and take out the cd. see, this is symbolic. dealership has taken a look at rock stars, and they like what they see, but they've also got those guilty twangs of pop love in their system. someone i know even...

2.0 out of 5 stars Rather uninspired...
I'm sorry to say it, but I really was dissapointed with this CD. I found the music and lyrics to be very bland. I don't think that this CD has introduced anything new at all to music. I guess it is just not my style.

after you buy this album (which i know you will), one of the first things you'll notice is a big star that says POP in the middle when you open the jewel case and take out the cd. see, this is symbolic. dealership has taken a look at rock stars, and they like what they see, but they've also got those guilty twangs of pop love in their system. someone i know even called them a "rockin' motown". now, i don't know if i'd go that far, but these kids do indeed know how to rock--and pop. their songs will crawl through your ears into your brain, and they will never let go. but you're better off that way anyway. they're so indie that they're not even signed, so almost every dollar you send their way goes straight to their pockets... maybe someday they'll be able to afford to play some frickin' all-ages shows in the san francisco bay area--or even in your hometown! regardless, i love dealership, and you should too. just listen to some soundclips, and you won't be sorry. personal favorites of mine include "my box", "fallout" and "green".

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooks? And how!, June 21, 1999
By A Customer

What a great CD! More hooks than a pirate's prothesis shop. Lyrics that will have you sobbing into your Trapper Keeper. I think these guys are going places. Buy this CD right now and say you knew 'em when.

5.0 out of 5 stars some dorky kid's amateur review (re-edited), July 28, 2002
This review is from: Secret American Livingroom (Audio CD)
this album is awesome. they define the work, which became the genre itself, called indie rock/cute pop. I have seen them live about twice and talked to them afterwards. How cool is that? ... The boy/girl vocals are very catchy. The biggest draw for me are the lyrics which are incredible. i can't imaging any other band pulling off "nerdy girl" with as much sincerity, technicality, and gracefulness.

it's also enjoyable and refreshing to hear French and Japanese lyrics done to fuzz bass and keyboards. go listen. like. now. ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Music you can listen to forever--addictive., June 11, 1999

I've never quite heard a band that sound like Dealership. They are unique and Secret American Livingroom is filled with 8 pop-rock gems. I've had the CD for about a year now and still listen to it all the time--it's addictive. There are so many different things going on in some of the songs that each time the hooks catch your ear in different places and it's fresh and exciting and new. I definitley recommend the CD to everyone in the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always fun, sometimes excellent, July 24, 2002

This isn't a bad track on the album, but the album comes across as somewhat bland and generic, if likeable, for the beginning and middle of the album. Then the last two songs, particularly "You're Dumb" are startling, so enjoyable and well-done that it doesn't really seem to fit the album. This band is fun to see live and I've talked to them and they seem like swell folks. So don't expect to have your mind blown (if you're the sort of person who got their mind blown by the Fairway's "Is Everything All Right?") but I definitely think it's worth seeing their shows and this CD is good stuff too.
