4.0 out of 5 stars A travel book that is more than a travel book!, November 18, 1999
This review is from: The Secret Caribbean: Hideaways of the Rich & Famous (Hunter Travel Guides) (Paperback)
This is more than just your run of the mill travel book--this is a guide to fantasy. Whether you want to share elbow room in the playgrounds of the rich and famous, or just dream of an escape to the crystal waters, clear blue skys and white sands of the Caribbean, this guide will help you to transform such lofty dreams into an affordable reality. With colorful insights into the history of each location, Secret Carribean transports you into the adventure of the past, while beckoning you to realize your fantasies in the here and now. Pleasantly written with a gentle to the eye lay-out, this book will appeal to many readers, not just those planning a getaway to their own secret hideaway.

1.0 out of 5 stars A total dissapointment, January 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Secret Caribbean: Hideaways of the Rich & Famous (Hunter Travel Guides) (Paperback)
This is the very first travel guide that I have felt was a total waste of my time and money. Use this guide only if you want the barest of details and the least amount of research. You can go to the tourist board sites and receive 10 times the information and to practically any other guide book for lots more hotel suggestions and information. The chapter on Aruba was the worst! It list only one hotel (La Cabana Resort) which is across the street from the beach and although a nice find for families - definately NOT a secret hideaway type hotel. I could have wrote this book in my first year in the travel business with my eyes closed. Did anyone even go see these resorts? It sure does not sound like it. Do yourself a favor and buy Ian Keowns Hideaways or even a Foder or Frommer guide! Or better yet, find an experienced travel agent who knows the caribbean and has actually seen the resorts and hotels!
