5.0 out of 5 stars Simply wonderful
Bought it for my grandson and am keeping it and getting another for him. It is simple enough for children and informative enough for anyone with an interest in hands. Very well put together, with lots of information and a positive approach. I recommend it for anyone with any interest in reading hands or learning about yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad I Guess
A little oversimplified for me I guess after having read two other books. Also the author seems to have a different school of thought as far as classification of the various "lines" and categories e.g. the main lines of Life, Head, Heart, etc he classifies and references by way of the 4 elemental system (earth, wind, fire, etc) and doesn't really explain much about...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Adults, Too!, November 14, 2000

This review is from: The Secret Code on Your Hands: An Illustrated Guide to Palmistry (Hardcover-spiral)
I bought this book for my 11 year old cousin, which I guess is the "recommended" age for this book, but I got a lot out of it, as well. It's not as if adults understand palmistry, simply by virtue of being adults, so 'big people' will find this interesting, too. The book doesn't come off as "babyish," and the author doesn't insult the intelligence of, or write condescendly to kids. The diagrams in it are simple and it's easy to see what what's being indicated when the different points are being featured. I think if you buy this for the young person in your life, you'll end up reading it, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Palmist, January 31, 2007

This review is from: The Secret Code on Your Hands: An Illustrated Guide to Palmistry (Hardcover-spiral)
During the years 1989 though 1999 I owned a small shop in New York City named "Altar Egos". We sold books and paraphenalia for psychics and mystics and spiritual people from all walks of life. I was extremely priviledged to know Vernon Mahabal for a short period at that time while he lived here in NYC. I have read palms myself for over 40 years, and I immediately recognized a "true master" in Vernon. He is well acquainted with his material which makes him completely at ease with the subject. I was thrilled to find that he is a great teacher as well.
This book, while being kept very simple, is a jewel. It is concise and easy to understand. Before you've finished reading even the first page you will be avidly grabbing people's hands to see what you can find out about them. It's a wonderful book to begin your hand-reading journey with no matter your age. The foundation work is accurate and easy to build upon if you continue your studies in the field.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED, November 1, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is a delight to own, on the merits of the illustrations alone. I am smitten with the style of the illustrator and could just look at each page over and over again...and I HAVE!

The info is good, rings true, but what sets this book apart is the illustrations. Worth buying just for the pictures.

Enjoy....

Hi.
I got this book out of curiosity and am very pleasantly surprised. It is beautifully illustrated and easy to understand. The author takes such a positive and respectful approach to the art of palmistry. I am very happy and am now even more interested in learning more. I ordered three different books on the subject and this one is by far my favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. :)

A little oversimplified for me I guess after having read two other books. Further, and this is just me, there's no real logic given behind why X means Y.. it's more like just a cold list of various hand characteristics and their corresponding meanings without much explanatoin as to "why", which i find personally impossible to then retain.
Finally, there's no actual photos of real hands-- all illustrations are drawn-- which on any real hand it's pretty rare to have the lines neatly and evenly drawn like that of a neatly drawn line colored illustration.

I found this book 'The Secret Code on your Hands' very well explained and helpful for a beginner like myself. I have no intention of reading palms other than my own , but I have always been very interested in the information our own hands can tell about us. I was quite surprised at how many likenesses of myself I found as I compared the shape, size etc.. of the different parts of my hands. I am very glad I bought it.
