Product Description

A mystery game! Valuables have been stolen, and we have to find them before Midnight. Together we search through the Mansion for clues. At Midnight, the Thieves may slip away with all the hidden booty! Children enjoy figuring out the mystery of what is behind the Secret Door. Because of the co-operative principle, everyone is part of a team that discusses ideas and shares strategies. Other important skills of memory and logic get a workout, too. Each game is different, exciting and tricky. That's why adults like playing along! Get the magnifying glass, Holmes, and let's get on with the Case. Midnight approaches!

5.0 out of 5 stars Memory game fun, November 27, 2006
By
This review is from: Secret Door Co-Operative Mystery Game (Toy)
We purchased this game many years ago, when our teen boys were young. They enjoyed it very much and spent hours playing this with their dad. The other day, I had it out to give away...and they (and my husband) immediately rescued it saying I couldn't get rid of it because The Secret Door was one of their favorite games. Seems we'll be hanging on to this to play with our future grandchildren.

The game is well made and illustrated with interesting detail. It is very simple to play with nothing to read, so even younger children can enjoy this game. While it is basically a memory game- you turn over tiles and try to match them, there is an element of urgency since you are working together against the clock (grandfather clock tiles) to find all matches.

I liked that fact that it is cooperative. It took a bit of getting used to since my boys were used to competitive games, but playing cooperatively made for a calmer experience and no one was angry at the end- even if the 'clock' did chime 13.

we love this game. it is similar to "memory", you have to mach up the different pieces, beat the clock and discover which missing jewels are hidden behind the secret door.
my son was 3 when we got it and it was fun for him and his older siblings to play. fun way to work together. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Hit with Kids, January 27, 2009

I love to introduce this game to kids-they eat up the element of mystery and sleuthing, and it really helps to build a sense of cooperation with them. It is a short game, so you can play it more than once without it taking up too much time. I think this game is perfect for 7-11 year-olds.
