5.0 out of 5 stars Imaginative fun!
This is such a sweet, imaginative book. I bought it for my almost four year old and she LOVES it! It has little envelopes with letters to remove and read (her favorite)! Plus there's a paper bracelet to make and wings and a tiara too! Highly recommend!

My 3 year old daughter loves this book--we've read it no less than 100 times. The extras that come with it really add to the appeal, though some have a limited life-span. One caveat: Some of the underlying messages are a bit negative (in my very personal opinion) The "prettiest", most feminine fairy seems to get all the advantages--other fairies just GIVE her free things like dresses and jewelry (sadly not unlike real life). The one tom-boy fairy is always getting into trouble. As I read it to my daughter, I find myself editing it by making the two fairies "Nettle" and "Blossom" friends instead of adversaries. Nonetheless, here I am ordering a replacement copy for our very dog-eared edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, so precious., December 25, 2002

My four-year-old received this adorable book for her birthday. It is magical and beautiful. We both love it! I highly recommend it. There are pop-ups and many paper things to pull out and play with, which is great, but definitely not great for an under four-year-old, unless you intend for it to be destroyed instantly.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute little things included, June 2, 2002

I am 11 years old (as said) and I had this book when I was younger and loved it. It has lots of little pull out things such as fairy wings, a letter from the "queen fairy", and stick on earings! (These things have all gotten lost very quickly, hence I rated this book a 4 instead of a 5.) All in all it's a very cute book about a little fairy named Blossom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever Text + Darling Illustrations = Winner of a Book, January 20, 2004
This review is from: The Secret Fairy Handbook (Hardcover)
My six-year-old daughter was insistent: she wanted a pop up book more than anything! This title uses flaps, envelopes and pop ups imaginatively to engage the reader in its Fairy Adventures.

One slight criticism is the fanciful writing is more difficult for little ones to read on their own.... but we read it together through once and then she was able to read it herself.

I especially liked showing her the "writing backwards in the mirror" trick (she had never seen that before)as illustrated in the "Fairy Secret Code".

The book also has a puffy, padded feel to it, making the process of holding it in your hands different than most other books which also sets it apart from the others on your shelf.

I also suggest people purchase a copy from a place like Amazon where other hands have not looked through it. We bought our copy at a local bookstore so the treasured tiara had been taken out: we didn't notice until we got home and had read it and opened flaps, etc, too late to return.

I have this book, it's great! It has pull-out wings, bracelets, hairclips, etc! And I'm older than 10 and it's still fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Secret Fairy Handbook, September 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The book was marked $14.95 and the enclosed invoice including shipping came to about $18. It had been stated by Amazon when the book was ordered that it would be about $23.67. I wrote to ask if I would be receiving a refund of $5.67 (don't remember the exact amount) and was told the wrong invoice had been sent!

If that had happened in a retail store, the store would have accepted the first invoice and swallowed their mistake!

The book was lacking part of its tab closure but still brought a lot of pleasure to my grand daughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for all little fairies!, July 25, 2008
My daughter loves this book! I read it to her until she learned to read and now she reads it to me! She loves the notes and secret compartments. There are even paper dolls to dress up!
