4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but best used as a coffee-table book
There's quite a few negative reviews of this book on here that say "Don't buy this book because only 8-10 pages will actually pertain to you in particular." While this is true, I think this criticism is a bit narrow-minded. That's like saying a dictionary sucks because it "defines all these other words that you'll never ever have to look up in your entire...

1.0 out of 5 stars Your Destiny is to Waste Money -- if you buy this book
Let me say right off the bat, I am a skeptic, but still I loved author Gary Goldschneider's first two books from this series: the Secret Language of Birthdays and the SL of Relationships. But this one, THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF DESTINY is a bore.

Rather than offering two pages to each birth date, as Birthdays did, or a half of a page as Relationship did, this...

There's quite a few negative reviews of this book on here that say "Don't buy this book because only 8-10 pages will actually pertain to you in particular." While this is true, I think this criticism is a bit narrow-minded. That's like saying a dictionary sucks because it "defines all these other words that you'll never ever have to look up in your entire life."

Part of the appeal of this book is that its information applies to everyone. If you want a book that only talks about you and your life, I'd suggest buying something else that only deals with your zodiac sign. The Secret Language of Destiny is meant more as a coffe-table book, something used to spark discussion between you and some friends. It's really fun to say to somebody, "Hey, here's what this book says about your destiny. Does any of this apply to your life?" Most of the time the karmic paths (which are base on birth date and year) are eerily accurate. I wouldn't say they're constantly dead-on, but I think that for most people there'll be enough similarities listed to at least get them thinking.

A good pick-up if you get a kick out of seeing if the personalities of your friends match up with the personality profiles of their zodiac signs.

5.0 out of 5 stars All you ever have to know about your destiny!, December 7, 1999
This review is from: The Secret Language of Destiny (Hardcover)
This book drew me to it immediately since I have taken such intense interest in the previous books written by these authors. Each section of this book is broken down according to your date of birth (probably according to numerology). Each different section describes what "way" you are headed to; what direction your life is in and what challenges (external and internal) you must face. Then, each birthweek within those sections explains how your "way" works with your astrological decanate. As soon as you start to read about your main spiritual and/or mental goal in life, all the other details described hauntingly fall correctly into place. This book will help you to focus on your true path in life and key you into your personal attributes that work in your favor or are detrimental to your happiness. It has made me much more positive about where I am headed and allowed me to take pride in my misgivings and learn to deal with them without losing site of who I am supposed to be. A definite yes for anyone who needs a little boost in his/her positivity. I LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars ASTONISHINGLY ACCURATE., November 27, 2002
This review is from: The Secret Language of Destiny (Hardcover)
My wife and I were AMAZED at the truths found in this book. For instance, I am a "Sagittarius II". Original, eccentric, kooky and eclectic. For years, in my youth, I sought acceptance by being a "people pleaser" type: I wanted to be accepted by "trying too hard". When I forgot about success & popularity (as the book states) in my late twenties, it suddenly found me, as if by magic! On a lighter note, because I am definitely an off-the-wall personality, I found life is much easier once I accepted this fact and by surrounding myself with friends who encourage/appreciate my zany/whacko way of seeing things. By letting go of our ego, our garden of positive thoughts, i.e. our REAL SELVES come into fruitation. Because we are all given particular gifts and idiosyncrasies, the book guides us all according to our own particular character traits! A bravura work. I agree with another reviewer in that these guys really ARE onto something!

4.0 out of 5 stars "The Secret Language of Destiny", December 10, 1999

If, like most people, you've periodically asked yourself, "Why am I here?" now there is a place where you can find the answer. "Destiny" is an easy-to-read astrological guide that will soothe even the worst case of existential angst. It goes deeper than Goldschneider and Elffers' previous two collaborations -- "The Secret Language of Birthdays" and the follow-up book on relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars The is the best book in the Secret Language series!, January 9, 2000
By
This review is from: The Secret Language of Destiny (Hardcover)
As an ardent fan of both BIRTHDAYS and RELATIONSHIPS, I have to say that the authors have outdone themselves. Focusing on the nodes of the moon was a stroke of brilliance! With the turn of the millenium, I was thinking that I'd like to re-vision my life. So I re-read the description of my karmic path in DESTINY recently. They really nailed me. The text and its insights just get more meaningful! This is really powerful analysis of life purpose.

4.0 out of 5 stars My karmic path was dead on accurate, February 8, 2007
By
Although the book didn't go into GREAT detail about my Karmic path, it went deep enough, to where I understood what steps I needed to take in order to live a balanced life. In fact, the results I got from this book were 100% the same as "The Life You Were Born to Live". Same deal, about grounding and structure being my biggest obstacle.

This book would be tremendous to have on hand, when you meet new people, or get into a new relationship, so you can learn more about the person. I instantly looked up the birthdays of past relationships I have been in, and they were certainly accurate. It was definitely pretty cool to see that. All in all, interesting book. It's a HUGE book, but yet doesn't cover things in depth. It's enough to wet your whistle though, and I think it's well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dinner Book for Guests, August 27, 2005
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We pull this book out during a dinner party and let people read their destiny. It never fails to impress. The question is always asked "How do they know me so well?" What follows is usually someone's destiny is read aloud and the group then discusses how accurate it is. If someone says "That is not me", then you can be sure their mate will start the conversation with "Yes it is!" The book is highly accurate and insightful. It is a real key to the subtle way you do things in your life. It is an observation from above. Great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I yearn for more insight, October 7, 2004
As with all astrological and psychic phenomenon the picture is never spelled out in black and white. This book was accurate for me and those close to me, so I can only assume that it would be for others. It's both a good conversation piece and akin to an encyclopedia - a good reference for a bit of insight into the behaviour of others. As with other serious research, really boring into the meat of the matter requires additional references and study. I applaud the author, for to compile all of this insight into one book is truely a significant accomplishment. For around $20 I would say that this book is indeed a great buy! ...and this is a completely objective review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, with tough competition, March 25, 2005
By
This review is from: The Secret Language of Destiny (Hardcover)
This book is a very interesting one. I will say this, however. Due to the "Secret Language of Birthdays," this book will be always compared to it, and therefore seen as a let-down. If you think in those terms, then yes it is, if you don't however, and read it and see the information it contains, it's good. It has some information that is lacking from the Birthday book. At the risk of contradicting myself, I have to say it's less specific, it's more general, and lacks the "shock" that it's predecessor has. It's a good book, but not good enough to get five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Destined to be a Best Seller, December 14, 2000

Lana "funnshyne" (Richmond, Virginia United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Secret Language of Destiny (Hardcover)
This book is amazingly accurate! I spent my twenties figuring out what I could have simply read in this book, were it only written sooner. Based on when you were born, you can read about what your life's challenges and main theme of learning will be. Why are we here? What is our purpose on this planet? If you already have any of the other books in the series, this is a must have too. If you don't, I'd recommend starting with "The Secret Language of Relationships" or "The Secret Language of Birthdays." A "must have" for anyone with even a casual interest in the subject of astrology, karma or spirituality; It is the ultimate sourcebook to help shed light on your destiny.
