Product Description

Slaves of the Star

The Star has been killing her slowly. I wanted to destroy it at first, but she wouldn’t let me. It’s the future, she said. She’s right--but I don’t care. I only want to save those I love--and they’re in the past.

The Star can help me, but it’s a two-edged sword. It may destroy us, but it’s not evil. It’s completely neutral. It’s mankind that is evil, not the Star.

Destroy the Star? No. The Star can help me--and those I love. Am I evil? I don’t know. But I’ve already made my choice.

Praise for Secret of the Legion

“As in every book of this series, the battles are so realistic my heart pounded...The writing style is exciting...In many ways, this is my favorite book in the series so far. Highly recommended.” -- Midwest Book Review

5.0 out of 5 stars The Legion Rides Again!, November 21, 2009
This review is from: Secret of the Legion (Paperback)
SECRET OF THE LEGION is book four in Marshall Thomas's futuristic LEGION series. This time, Beta Three, called Thinker, finds himself washed of his memories, his past, and his passion. Once a warrior, he is now a dishwasher with no vision beyond the daily drudgery he now faces. Although reminders of his old life make him wonder about his past, he has no idea who he really is until he is rescued by the remaining members of his unit. As his memories return, he desires only to return to his wife and child. But his old comrades have a mission and they need Beta Three to help them achieve victory. In return for his help, he will be able to retire from The Legion and go home to his family.

As in his previous novels, Thomas's characters have a level of depth and intensity that move this story way beyond a Sci-fi thriller, creating a compelling novel that will appeal to all readers. One other aspect that must be mentioned is the "world" Thomas has created. It is fascinating - intriguing in its intricacies. More than a simple frame around the picture - it is part of the overall masterpiece and worth noting. SECRET OF THE LEGION is highly recommended.

I liked the Legion series, this book included. I've read the whole thing. The story is written by somebody who does not have a lot of human contact I think because the idea the author has about how men and women interact is about as child like as can be. Pretty sad. Still the action of the battles etc make the books flow well and keeps you fairly entertained. This pretty much sums up the series for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Light Reading, February 2, 2012

This review is from: Secret of the Legion (Book 4 of the Soldier of the Legion Series) (Kindle Edition)
This series of books do get better with each book. When I ordered the first one they had such a good sale on that I bought two books of the series. Had I not done that I would have stopped reading the series entirely.

The flaws in this series of books have been well documented in other reviews and I see no need in bringing them up here. I'm doing this review to point out that they actually do get better with each new book. It's almost as if the author is honing his skills.

In these books I don't much like the main character. Other reviewers have said the same thing but i was still compelled to finish the series.

These books have bad grammar. It's been years since I was in school and that subject was one of my worst but even I could pick out the mistakes. I first thought these books were written by a teenager who had not graduated yet but I was surprised to learn it's an older man.

All in all they are decent light reading.
