God and Mental Health,
By
This review is from: The Secret Life of God: Discovering the Divine Within You (Hardcover)
In my thirty-five years of practicing as a Professional Psychotherapist/Pastoral Counselor, I have never found a better book to lead one to the center of one's being. The Secret Life of God by renowned Rabbi David Aaron puts to rest all the hyperbole and hype approaches to Kabbalah, from the Hollywood in-crowd to the Los Angeles cultic (albeit popular) so-called Kabbalah practice of the Bergs, who try to sell this mystery as one would try to sell a commodity. The Secret Life of God by David Aaron addresses the absolutely real drawing near to the center of the life of God. I don't care what religion you may be, even an atheist can relate to this book. I have had many patients come back to me and claim to have found healing using the book as a starting point on their journey, under my direction. They say that for the first time in their lives they now understood why they felt so alone. For me as a therapist this melds the spirituality and psychotherapy paradigms together for the very first time to create an unique approach to mental health. With The Secret Life of God to guide you to yourself, you will never feel alone again! I cannot express enough gratitude to Rabbi David Aaron, who has had the courage to share and guide the common person to this Divine Truth, not for his own popularity or personal fame or gain but to be a "Light Unto the Nations." I can recommend this book without reservation to all who are looking to make sense out of the life they do not have NOW! So I invite you to read this book to come from the "No-where" to the Now/Here. It all depends on how you were taught to see yourself along side God. Rabbi David Aaron has written an instruction manual for the soul. Come and taste the goodness of the Lord, via one of His best, selfless teachers.

This book was amazing. It gave me a whole new perspective on myself and my relationship to God and the world. I get a sense that the choices I make matter on a global level. Each of us is in partnership with G-d to bring beauty and goodness into this world. The author explained complex topics in such a plain and simple way that what was hidden seems suddenly obvious.I think this is one of those rare books that leaves you with new eyes for yourself and the world. And just from reading it, you find the way you interact with yourself and the world has altered.

Real Kabbalah,

Understanding the difference between emotional naked appearance and reality, duality and non duality, Rabbi Aaron asks us to go beyond illusion to what is allusion...a meaningful relationship, dialogue and unity with GOD as an active participant within the plan we did not create but find ourselves in.Of course not all would agree in a divine plan which is why reading this book is so eye opening..to open up ones eyes and meditate on nothingness leads to stillness and clarity yet the self goes back to itself nonetheless and asks not only who am I but how this vague fleeting sense of I fits in with the world in which I was thrown. How best to meditate and act on this dialogue with its resolve is a response that Rabbi Aaron offers in this wonderful clear book.

This book expounds on the Jewish perspective of God and nullifies misconceptions. It elucidates the mystical concept of a Higher Being and introduces a new concept of Panentheism as an addendum to Monotheism. This books is very useful and a very good, smooth read. It does an excellent job of clarifying the concept of God in Judaism.

This book has had a lasting effect on the quality of my spiritual life. I have given this book as a gift to Jews and non-Jews and without exception they have found it pleasurable, meaningful and enlightening. Regardless of your perspective on spirituality, this book will enliven and enrich that essential aspect of your life. You will want to purchase several copies so you can share them with friends.

Rabbi David Aaron is a great speaker, getting his ideas across with clarity and humor. Much of this shows through in The Secret Life of God.Here, the Rabbi walks the fine line between pantheism and panentheism. He wants God to literally fill the whole universe, and have people and the universe be an expression of God; but he also wants God to be separate from people and the universe, so Judaism does not fall into what he views as the trap of pantheism. These are tricky arguments, and the neat division between pantheism and panentheism is still one that I do not see (or understand). Regardless, it is refreshing to see Rabbi Aaron express some of the more esoteric doctrines of the Kabalah, long considered dangerous, and share his trepidation in writing them down. In a world where everything is accessible and everything is uttered, it is pleasing to see a little medieval reticence.

I've learned many books on Jewish thought and belief, but this one really taught me something new. Rabbi Aaron has a true gift at relating and interpreting the deepest Kabbalist ideas into concepts everyone can grasp. This book is so profound, it can revolutionize one's concept of G-d and life itself.
