4.0 out of 5 stars Kids, read this
It's been a long, long time since I first picked up Spooksvillenumber one ... , but I'll never forget the great feeling it left me with at the end. It was the first book of Mr. Pike I had ever read. Christopher Pike is, and probably always will be, my fave. author, becuase of his uncanny ability to know what people want and deliver. I'm approaching ... but I still look...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Secret Path (Spookesville)
In the book The Secret Path, Adam moved to a small town called Springville. On the first day he was there he met a girl named Sally. She started to tell him lot of spooky things happen in the town and that's why the town is called "Spooksville". Adam doesn't believe Sally until they meet up with someone called Watch. They all went searching for The Secret Path - a path...

I'm approaching ... but I still look for more Spooksville titles along with the Matt Reilly and Tom Clancy I read today. It's a great series for youngsters because it doesn't treat them like fools who run to their mommies at the first sign of trouble expecting them to be believed. The charcters, young as they are, take matters into their own ahnds and rely on each other rather than adults. .... In conclusion, read every Spooksville you can find because the stories are sensational and the characters are BELIEVABLE. Also, stop at nothing to read anything with Christopher Pike's name on it, especially The Last Vampire Series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to the Spooksville series., March 4, 2001

The Secret Path, a roadway to new realms and the pathway to dangers. Guided by Bum, Adam, Sally and Watch take the Secret Path and face dangers of which death is the most tame. I would like to say that what i like most about the Spooksville series are the relationships and the love and affection each character shows the other, and i knda identify with and like Watch very much, and also Bryce, even though he is very arrogant. They are always ready to risk their lives to save one another and i am impressed by their bravery, not to mention the scary parts. I feel there is more to spooksville than horror, as they discuss problems like pollution as in Aliens in the Sky and Attack of the Killer Crabs. Anyway i love the series and Mr. Pike, thanks a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best, June 13, 1999
By A Customer
RL Stine got boring and even though this series is for younger readers I tried it and loved it. I've read all the books up to #23and loved the way the characters devloped throught the series. Adam is a natural leader and is no longer so niave, a good problem solver. Watch is the smart guy, kinda sad, and kinda an odd ball but i spend time at the cemetary too so what can i say. Sally is forever sarcastic and funny, always getting her self in trouble. Cindy is always there for her friends and isn't tough often but isn't just a goddy-two-shoes Bryce is learning but will always be too arrogent for his own good. Permant characters like Ann Tempelton and Bum and new group members like Tara and accaintances like Mireen and Ek always keep the story running and fun. Christopher Pike you have a great series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooksville-Not Just For Little Kids, May 17, 1997
By A Customer
Finally, a series of Pike books for little kids. I started reading these aloud to my little brother, but soon became fascinated by them as well. His creative genuis really flows in these books, I guess because pretty much anything can happen in Spooksville. Pike also exercises his utterly BRILLIANT sense of humor in the Spooksville series, through the witty and hilarious character Sally. My little brother actually didn't get some of the jokes that I loved, which just shows that older people are probably even more likely to enjoy these books than little kids (not that kids won't enjoy them!!) The plots of these books are complex and fascinating, and always carefully done. So many kids books just seem to throw logic out the window. Pike obviously knows what he's talking about when his plots concern the complexities of time travel or spacecraft. Still, it's never too complex for little kids. Because this is a series, the characters can develop over time into very complex people without spending too much time on character development in each book (I know my brother hates that--he wants to get to the action). And instead of explaining his characters as Adam, the leader, Sally, the witty sarcastic one, Cindy, the goody-goody, he actually shows us this, consistently, through their actions. These characters seem like real people, in particular the mysterious Watch and the witty Sally. Cindy and Adam, the newcomers to Spooksville, are a bit more bland and normal, but kids will be able to relate to them better. For any parent who's sick of their kids reading that R.L. Stine crap, get your kids some "Spooksville" books!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Spooksville, March 14, 2003

I think that the most important thing that the author wants the reader to know is not to take your pride too seriously and keep a grip on reality, I think that because Adam did not believe in the things and did not keep an open mind no matter how crazy it might of been got him into a lot of trouble and mishap.
Christopher Pike wants the reader to know this is to prevent being a situation like that. By ignoring things you could be increasing your chances of being in great danger all because of your pride and/or ego.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good series of books!, September 30, 1999
By A Customer
I love the Spooksville series. They are always having new adventures and getting smarter throughout the series. I especially like Adam. These are very refreshing books after all the murders in the R.L.Stine books. I would advise this to lots of kids. I hope to see more in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVED this book!!!, May 8, 1998

This book I think is the BEST book I have ever read! It was scary and I couldn't put it down! I would recommend this book to kids who like witches and ghosts, skeletons and black knights. Human eating trees and spooky grave yards. I would like to thank my friend Katie for letting me borrow it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A series of fond memories., March 1, 2005
By
I read this series when I was young, and was positively dismal when my bookstore stopped selling them after I read book #14. This series holds some of my fond memories of book reading days, along with Animorphs, and various other series of my (not too far away) youth. That being said, Christopher Pike is an excellent writer, and even a grown person can falll for the charms of these books. He may write them for children, but the plots are enjoyable enough for anyone.
