Book Description

January 12, 1998
Expelled?Jerusha Ericson's got a problem. She's a strong, self-confident, and capable ensign at the Intergalactic Academy. Or at least she was, until she got expelled. Now her lifelong dream of being an Academy graduate has abruptly came to an end, and life lies before her like a dark, looming tunnel. But Jerusha soon comes to see that there is a dim light at the end of that tunnel.Join Jerusha and her friends as they meet Captain Mark Edge and the mishmash crew of the Daystar. Experience their thrill of signing on to travel a secret and dangerous mission to the planet Makon. And meet the rough inhabitants of Makon, who are less than happy to see the Daystar land on their arid planet. Travel along on Daystar Voyage #1 and see how honesty and integrity can not only make tough situations more amicable but can be a strong witness for Jesus Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sci Fi Christan Style, August 3, 2001
This review is from: Secret of the Planet Makon (Daystar Voyages Series #1) (Paperback)
This is the first book in a series of ten about the voyages of the Daystar, a ship built from scrap that takes on, and completes missions that are to "delicate" for the rest of the Intergalatic Fleet. Captian Edge is a man of many talents, a former "scoundrel", rather like Han Solo. However, instead of having to deal with a 3 meter tall furry creature, Edge's problem is a motley crew of Academy rejects.. Collectively known as the "Junior Space Rangers". Their unofficial leader is a girl of 15 named Jerusha Ericson. She is a general expert of spacecraft, and has an uncanny ability to know what people are thinking. Then next individual is Raina St. Clair, a small girl of 14, communications expert. The third is Mei-Lani, an oriental girl of thirteen years. She is an expert in Languages and history. Then there is Heck Jordan, Electronics; Ringo Smith, Computers; and Dai Bando, a very strong and fast individual. As the beginning book of the series, this book sets the entire tone for the series. Captian Edge, and most of the crew, are not Christians. However, most of the rangers are. Their mission? Avoid Sir Richard Irons, and make themselves rich. Along the way, they learn mercy, forgiveness, and the value of honesty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daystar Voyages Series book 1, November 19, 2010

This review is from: Secret of the Planet Makon (Daystar Voyages Series #1) (Paperback)
I read this book probably 8 or so years ago and loved it. I had let a friend borrow it and they never returned it. Still had the rest of the series but this book is truly essential to make the series complete. It sets up the entire story line and without it the series can be confusing. Some series you don't have to have all the books in, but this is one that I have read over and over again but without the first book it lacked something. Even as an adult now I still go back and read it from time to time. It's full of life lessons and Biblical principles. Very much worth the read!
