exciting adventures and great friendships!, May 12, 2009
I am a mom of 4 boys and have been looking for something to read to them over the summer break. I just finished all of the books out in this series and have to say that these are some of my favorites!! Not only do they keep your interest, but the characters are wonderful. They are realistic and endearing without being harsh~ A breath of fresh air from some of the crude, commercialized stuff out there.
Two brothers, Jeff and David along with their cousin Claire have all sorts of wonderful adventures along with their dogs~ canoeing on the lake, secret hideouts in the woods, intriguing clues, riding bikes and hiking, using walkie talkies and camping. They even rig up a pulley system from their fort to their look-out tree for transporting snacks. I was laughing about one of the brothers because he usually sleeps in his clothes and ends up with his shirt on inside-out and backwards... something that happens regularly at our house. :) There is an old man in the series the children call Mr. Wellback, because he begins all of his stories with "Well, back in my day...".
My boys like it because of the adventure and mystery (me too! :). I especially appreciate the values of kindness, loyalty, responsibility, honesty, forgiveness and true friendship that has been woven within the adventures! Thank you so much K. Gregory!!!
