Interesting failure,

Interesting group of collaborators. It doesn't quite gel. Ian Hunter co-writes three tracks (and sings them), while contributing his classic song The Outsider. Essential for Hunter, Mott The Hopple or Mick Ronson fans.

Great CD. Ian Hunter et.al. The ideo clip of "the outsider" is grainy but fantastic! That clip is worth the price of the cd.

Big Disappointment,

Well, it's not a secret anymore. What should've been a great record just didn't happen here. From Corky Laing to Mick Ronson to Ian Hunter, everyone associated with playing on this are very talented individuals so certainly all the right people were involved. I wanted so much to like this record. And with their creative minds writing new, original material for it this should've been a great and memorable record. Despite the fact that the vocal harmonies are there, probably the biggest reason this "secret session" never saw the light of day until now is the fact that the songs just aren't interesting despite whatever political crap the artists and their respective record companies were going through at the time that delayed its release. This record should've just stayed a secret.

Not great sound quality, but that's not the point,

This sounds like a bunch of friends who got together and made some demos for a few days that never got polished... I like it. It's rough around the edges, but interesting for fans.

A must for Mountain fans,

Altough it is not typically rock album Mountain fans will be satisfied with three members of the group playing on it. A very rare video with Felix Pappalardi is worthy every dollar you spent. The Outsider should be in every rock history collection. It was great idea to find and put those recordings on CD. Three stars for rock fans, five stars for Mountain fans.

This was a demo not a polished end product, that at times is over produced and hard to recreate live for the time Enjoy it for what it is, a bunch of mates putting down some tracks to see what could be, IT'S JUST ABOUT GROWING OLD WITH ROCK AND ROLL...................

My guitar player was running a CD store when this came out a couple of years ago, and he took one home to listen to it, as some of the stuff we drew our repitoire from was Mott The Hoople, Ian Hunter, Mountain, West Bruce & Laing...you get the idea. Sometime later (a divorce and a move up Nawth), I asked him about it. "Nahh, 's no good," he said, "Just a lotta jamming around." I forgot about it, because at the time, he and I were both in shock and disbelief about how low the Stones had sunk and how badly "Bigger Bang" reeked, and I figured he was using the same "criteria." So, about a month ago, when I had some "disposable income," a rarity these daze, I purchased "Secret Sessions." Kent was right. It ain't any good - although, in all truth, it ain't ANY worse than ANYTHING IH has released since Ronno's demise, and yes, I am specifically referring to Mellonhead's guitarist's "input." Still..."Just When I Need You Most?" (sic) I Hate Dancin'?" The song titles are a clue. This makes me want to beg Ian Hunter to PLEASE retire before he alienates any more of his earlier fan base - or he falls over onstage first, first - but, even into one's seventies, I guess the lure of that almighty buck is just too compelling...Sigh; 7/23/10...I gave up and donated this to my Church for an auction. And "conscience is clear" and all that, I also donated the "Almost Famous" DVD and a couple of post Bill Wyman/Stones DVD boots.
