This review is from: The Secret Sexist (Paperback)
I finished reading the book in one sitting. I couldn't put down the book--I simply have got to read on. I just needed to find out what happen in the end because of the peculiar relationship between the protagonist, his wife and her younger sister. I felt that the younger sister was rather extreme on her views on sexism but nonetheless, an interesting character to read about. However, is Bowker trying to convey something about the insubstantial nature that holds such extreme views? It is rather ironic but interesting to note that the physical description of this younger sister embodies that of a conventional feminine lady in contrast to her elder sister whose outer appearance resembles more like a punk but she is of a homely disposition. Hmm, this is something that we can probably think about. On the whole, the novel is well-written whereby the simple use of language gets across to us readily and easily. I definitely reccomend this book to anyone who wants to read a good piece of writing without being bogged down by too heavy a detail or subject!
