A Great Book by a Great Author,
By A Joan Lowery Nixon Fan! (The U.S. of A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Secret, Silent Screams (Laurel-leaf suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Nixon kept me reading all during school and up into the night with this one! The story strats out with Marti, who second guesses the police and everyone who believes that her best frined, Barry, had killed himself. Th only person who will believe her, however, is a young police woman by the name of Officer Karen Prescott. They uncover clues with the odds against them, and finally bring justice to the one that caused so much pain into everyone's lives. If you have the chance to read this book, then by all means, READ IT!

A Very Outstanding Story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Secret, Silent Screams (Laurel-leaf suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
Marti sets out to find the murderer of her dear friend. While everyone was led to believe that he committed suicide, Marti knows this is not true. With only the support of an officer, Marti is desperate to find the killer before he strikes again. An outstanding, bone-chilling suspense. Joan Lowery Nixon has done it again.

A Suicide or a Homicide?,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Secret, Silent Screams (Laurel-leaf suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
A Suicide or a Homicide?
"Barry didn't kill himself! He didn't! Barry was murdered!" screamed Marti. Imagine that your best friend committed suicide and only you denied it. No one will believe you. Not the police or anyone else will believe you. How would you feel? Secret Silent Screams by Joan Lowry Nixon is a gripping murder mystery. Marti is a teenager from Farrington Park, Texas. Her best friend Barry has just supposedly committed suicide. All the clues lead to him. To make matters worse there have been 2 other suicides cases that have the same description to Barry's and it's just said to be another copycat. Nobody will believe Marti when she says Barry didn't do it. Marti is determined to find the true killer, no matter what it takes. She is willing to die trying to just clear Barry's name. I adored this book. I was pulled into this book from the first page. I couldn't stop. Joan Lowry Nixon has you running for the next page. Due to the way that each scene is described, you can picture it going on in your head. It's exhilarating! It was Impossible for me to put down this book! This book is like another book I have read. The stalker is another thrilling murder mystery also by Joan Lowry Nixon. They both leave you hanging at the end of the page. You will end up reading faster and faster every time. This book is strong, exhilarating, and intense. I would recommend this book to preteens and teens because of the theme in this book. I feel that the theme of Secret Silent Screams was that death is horrible and it hurts many people. You learn this because death is a big part of this book and you can come to realize that it hurts many people that can be important to you. Still this book is smart, witty, and powerful. So I suggest that you read this book. It's superb!

A well told tale,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Secret, Silent Screams (Laurel-leaf suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book like all of Joan Lowery Nixon's books was a thriller. Although, I believe that this wasn't one of her best books. The ending , which I am not going to tell, is dissapointing. The suspense builds until the ending of the book, and all of a sudden THATS IT the books over. I feel that she needed more detal in this book in the manner that she needed feelings, character description, and plot description. Over all , this book was better then worse, it had some good suspense parts, and great characters. The plot was also so-so.

An Exciting Book To Read!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Secret, Silent Screams (Laurel-leaf suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
Marti Lewis can't take the fact that her best friend, Barry Logan, killed himself. Being the next-door-neighbor she is, Marti goes to the police for help. Although everyone else who is grieving along with Marti is saying that Barry was in a string of suicides, Police Officer Karen Prescott has agreed to help her investigate. With such help, Marti has gone in depth and done her best to solve the case of her friend. In this mystery, you will be surprise by the ending, but you will also be frightened when the mystery unfolds itself. An entrancing book to read! This book has fascinating me, and being a mystery, allowed me to think along with the character. I have read a few other Joan Lowery Nixon's mysteries, and so far, I think that this one is one of her very best. It captivated me into thinking whether Barry did kill himself or not. Not to mention how I was able to capture Marti's feelings, and feel the same way she did about her friend's murder and to solve the mystery that lay underneath it. There have been a lot of exciting moments throughout this entire book, but for me, the most intense and thrilling one is when the murder arrives at Marti's house towards the end of the book. Marti is terrified, yet she has the power to fight him off, for not only is he planning to kill her, but that he has also killed Barry. During this moment, you can really imagine yourself hearing the shouts of anger coming from Marti. She has come face to face with the murder, and this is the only time she can come forward. |
