The Nutrition Twins expertly address the issue of salt in an easy-to-read, easy-to-follow book. There is no mystery to salt, as the experts Lyssie and Tammy explain every facet of salt and its effects on the body, and then go on to teach the reader how to eat deliciously and nutritiously without overeating sodium in its various forms. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the ipod's or PC version
This is a very good book, however it does not play well on a ipod. The charts are small and when inlarged you have to close out each page. I also tried the book on the pc and you can not read the charts at all.

I followed the ten-day Jumpstart Plan and lost eight pounds! I particularly love the Almond-Crusted Shrimp and the Baja Fish Tacos with Mango Sauce. The recipe section of the book is full of yummy dishes that provide variety and nutrition in every bite.

The book is filled with helpful techniques, such as The Rule of the Hand, which makes it easier to control portion sizes. There is also great guidance in finding appropriate substitutes for salt. The Nutrition Twins have another winner in their second book and I highly recommend everyone, including those with no weight issues, to read this book to bring about increased health by decreasing sodium intake. Buy it - you will be glad you did!

This review is from: The Secret to Skinny: How Salt Makes You Fat, and the 4-Week Plan to Drop a Size and Get Healthier with Simple Low-Sodium Swaps (Paperback)
A friend of mine told me about this book and i am so grateful i bought it. The results you get from following their advice are guaranteed and outstanding. First of all i was a hard-core salt lover. No one else on the planet loves/loved salt more than me. Even to this day i can't stand bland food so don't let the title put you off, if you think to yourself you can't live without salt. I love the jumpstart sample plan provided in the book, it keeps you eating almost all day and the foods do taste surprisingly good. It could seem like a lot of work to keep up with their advice but it really isn't - trust me. If i can do it so can you especially with their sample meal plans. Also for the guys - don't get put off there is information specifically for both men and women so this is not a book written for just women. I also love how they recommend specific brand names of foods for those who don't have time to read all the labels of the 60+ different brands of bread (for instance) that you find at the grocery store. What else can i tell u, oh, BUY THIS BOOK. IF you follow their advice to the letter no matter your age, body type or metabolism rate you are sure to loose at the very least 2 pounds a week. (but the key is to follow their instruction without cheating). And the best part is you feel great on their diet plan, you have more energy and feel better about yourself as this is not one of those diets that you are hungry all the time. Lastly, i love that they also mention cures for a 'salt-hangover'. The early stages of the plan really detoxifies your body of all the crap we eat thats really BAD for us and thats what makes weight loss a breeze thereafter.
The only slight issue is most of the meals in the jumpstart plan require some cooking and not everyone has time in the morning to actually 'make' breakfast. Also people with busier work schedules may not have time for extra meals during the day.
(However, even for someone like me who doesn't have a lot of weight to loose - e.g. if your weight loss goal is just 10lbs I would still recommend this book)

This book is full of excellent information on how to reduce the amount of salt in your diet. The authors give you great substitutions that are easy to implement daily. I love the Nutrition Twins tips. The book is easy to read and the recipes are delicious. I now read the labels on food and know that I want to choose foods with less than a certain amount of salt per serving. I highly recommend this book for people of every age.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Secret to Skinny: A book Finally that tells you the answer you have aLways wanted to know!, December 21, 2009
This review is from: The Secret to Skinny: How Salt Makes You Fat, and the 4-Week Plan to Drop a Size and Get Healthier with Simple Low-Sodium Swaps (Paperback)
This is the one book on dieting that I have referred to over and over again. It addresses the effect of salt intake which most books miss. Salt intake is important for permanent weight loss, as well as for health and longevity.
The book is written with seriousness, candor, and humor. You feel the authors, the nutrition twins, by your side. Their care, support, and hope are there for you as you read through it!
This is a book that will take time to absorb and use in your life. The book is going for real change in diet, health, and life style.
Stick with the sugeestions of this book. Even if you begin to follow some of them, you will become more educated and begin to see results.
The guidelines of what to eat make it so much easier to understand. I have been working at following them, not all at once, but gradually.
I am hopeful that I will reach my goal and be able to maintain it!
I have reccommended it to my husband, friends, patients, and other weight loss professionals! Aimee Beyda, psychotherapist and writer

The Nutrition Twins have done it once again with their newest book, The Secret to Skinny! This is their second book, which can only be described as "a must read" for anyone who is looking to lose weight by incorporating a healthier diet into their lifestyle. With great insights on food containing surprising quantities of salt and ways to swap these foods out for less salt heavy foods, the book is a real life changer. Thanks Lyssie and Tammy for sharing your secrets with all of us!

After seeing the Nutrition Twins on The Doctors, I was so excited to pick up a copy of this book, leaf through the pages and not feel intimidated before I even got started. My husband and I just began the regime today, but I love that we get to eat almost all day and that the snacks are not just carrots and celery. I also like the recipes included in the back of the book. All of them are simple and made with ingredients that our entire family enjoys. I don't think I'll fall off this wagon by morning, and I know someone who did this diet and looks amazing! I am looking forward to similar results for myself and lowered cholesterol and blood pressure for my husband.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fat Pants Begone!, August 25, 2009
By
This review is from: The Secret to Skinny: How Salt Makes You Fat, and the 4-Week Plan to Drop a Size and Get Healthier with Simple Low-Sodium Swaps (Paperback)
I tried running, the elliptical, and weights, and I didn't see enough difference to keep at it until... Thankfully, my friend gave me a preview copy of this book because I had gained 40 pounds after my kids were born and my fat pants were getting tight.

Even so, wasn't sure this book was for me because I rarely added salt to my food and I was not a saltaholic. . . or so I thought. Reading the book opened my eyes to the many ways I was sabotaging myself every day and packing on the pounds because of it. Within a week, I had lost my "pooch." Within a month, I saw a noticeable difference--I could actually wear clothes I had thrown to the back of my closet (Hallelujah!). Within two months, I was wearing a sexy bra---one I couldn't wear prior because of the dreaded BACK FAT. People were actually coming up to me, asking what I had done to look so good. (Who, me?)

Yes, some parts of the plan are hard core--but so are the results.

Thank you, Nutrition Twins! You have changed my relationship to food, the way my husband and my children see me (healthy and fit!), and you have changed my life for the better.

5.0 out of 5 stars I didn't know that., October 7, 2009

This review is from: The Secret to Skinny: How Salt Makes You Fat, and the 4-Week Plan to Drop a Size and Get Healthier with Simple Low-Sodium Swaps (Paperback)
I read a lot about Nutrition and I've got to say this is one of the most insightful, entertaining nutrition books I've ever read. Not only do they make it easy to change your diet, they make it fun and interesting. I can't believe all the damaging things they dug out on salt. Things I've never seen anywhere else, but even better, they show you step by step how to use this new information so the fat will just melt off while you're eating your favorite foods. I've been off salt now for a couple of weeks and I taste flavors I never knew existed...

And, best thing is, without suffering, I've dropped four pounds.

And, if you pick up this book today within a couple of weeks you will too!
