I Have a Secret, the third novel in my Sloane Monroe mystery series, is special to me because of the location. I set this novel in a small, charming town in California which is also the same town I grew up in. When people ask me where I'm from and I tell them, I almost always get the same response: a blank, doe-eyed stare. Most have never heard of it. Most have never been there. And that's what makes it so unique. Sometimes we don't realize how much a place means to us until we move away and all we have left is a lifetime of memories that plays over and over in our heads. So, with this novel, I wanted to share some of the flavor and history that is Tehachapi, California. After all, I'm still a Warrior at heart.

I have spent the last 6 or 7 days doing nothing but reading Cheryl Bradshaw. Everything she has written has kept me going until the last page. I particually like the fact that she does not fall into the use of bad language that so many of the top authors have resorted to. Thank you Cheryl.....

I have to say I'm kicking myself at the moment. Cheryl Bradshaw's fist book has been sitting on my kindle from the day I purchased my awesome little device, but it has just been pushed down the list as new books have been downloaded. What a mistake that was.

I downloaded, I Have A Secret as I was looking for a different read from the norm and I wasn't disappointed. I can officially declare that I am now a Cheryl Bradshaw fan and look forward to reading the other books in the series over the summer. They're ideal beach reads, although I'll be reading them under the shade of an apple tree in my orchard. :-)

The mystery kicks off with PI sloane returning to her hometown for a school reunion (always a dicey thing to do in my book!) When one of her former school mates is murdered aboard the cruise, Sloane promises the widow of the victim to find the perpertrator. What unfolds is a mystery that spans back twenty years...

Full of twists and turns and a highly recommended read. I hope you're writing your next book in the series Cheryl?

I Have a Secret by Cheryl Bradshaw will not keep its secret for long. This, the third novel in the Sloane Monroe Series, finds the hero of the tale, Sloane, placed in the all too often dreaded position of attending her high school reunion. Make no mistake; this is not one's average High School Musical meets Psycho slasher murder mystery.

The characters are clear, vivid, and likeable. Most are reminiscent of people anyone may know, whether they are individuals one likes, or loves to hate. Each carries his or her own brand of baggage and scars, but most create their own version of an enigmatic hell. Sloane herself is strong yet vulnerable at times when she is faced with her past.

The plot is well written and precise in its first-person flow. The landscape echoes Bradshaw's characters in the easy yet intense movement from present to past and back again. Readers are inducted into the class, experiencing each escalation in tension and danger. A word of caution for all those junior detectives out there, it is quite easy to be lead astray while hunting the perpetrator in this tale; the truth seemingly comes out of left field. The fact is, such speculation is part of the excitement one experiences solving such a well-honed mystery work.

More About the Author

Born and raised in Southern California, Cheryl Bradshaw became interested in writing at a young age, but it was almost two decades before she put pen to paper. In 2009 Bradshaw wrote Black Diamond Death (Book One: Sloane Monroe series). Within six weeks it entered the top 100 in two different categories and remained in the top 100 for over a year. Since that time, Bradshaw has written three additional novels in the series, and is now hard at work on the fourth. In 2013, Bradshaw introduced a new pranormal thriller series: Addison Lockhart, the first book titled Grayson Manor Haunting.

Bradshaw is the founder of IWU on Facebook, a writers group with over 1,800 members. In August 2012, Bradshaw was named one of Twitter's seven best authors to follow.
