Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This is Europe's seventh album and it sounds like they have finally arrived. Their music has evolved and they are willing to take risks. The album is modern and contemporary, without losing sight of traditional classic rock influences. It has a much harder edge then most of their previous work. The album demonstrates a mix of great composition skills paired with versatile sound variations, a brilliant blend of hard rock and soft metal ballads that are sure to please fans of the band.

The album artwork cover was designed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson. As a member of the design studio Hipgnosis, Storm worked on all the classic album covers by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of their Best, November 17, 2006
This CD shreds! Europe has finally put it all together and made their first complete album that is good from start to finish since "Final Countdown." The guitar solos are great and the vocals are steady but less stellar than "Final Countdown." What makes this album is the production. I also thought the production was pretty good on "Start From the Dark," but none of those songs had hooks. These new songs do have the hooks, and better lyrics than any other album in this genre to come out all year. After years of having Nickleback and Godsmack jammed into my face, this is a breath of fresh air. People would be wise to revive this genre of rock music, because there is more going on in this world that teen angst and breaking up with a girlfriend. Take the modern alt.rock/emo/screamo bands and ship them to Siberia, and bring Europe back full force in the United States!

4.0 out of 5 stars Europe follows "modern" formula, March 2, 2007
By Chris Jordan "seejordan" (Surrey, B.C. Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The new Europe sounds a lot like Nickelback or whoever these new bands are (of which I'm not really familiar). I only became interested in this particular release because I like John Norum (who plays a lot like John Sykes) and this is all original members of the old Europe band. There are no "simple" romantic ballads or final countdown style songs on this CD. The songwriting reflects a certain level of maturity within the band. Not that the modern sound is more mature, that's not what I'm referring to. The songs are still fairly simple, but with a spiritual theme. The musicianship is adequate, but not terrific and John puts on a few decent leads here and there. One thing I like about John Norum and Joey Tempest, is they tend to write songs that kind of "float", but still provide a decent melody. There are two tracks that could easily be top twenty hits on this disc (why this has been deleted in North America is a mystery to me). "Always the Pretenders" and "Forever Travelling" are very good singles, and the disc could have used one or two more tracks along those lines to make this a five-out-of-five. If you're interested in Norum look for the single "love is meant to last forever" and the disc he did with Dokken "Up From the Ashes". That disc is excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow, January 30, 2007
Short and to the point here... I haven't listened to Europe since I bought Appetite For Destruction in 1987 or 1988. Guns N Roses changed my views and musical taste forever. Well, for some reason I decided to pick this disc up and man am I glad I did.. Great job guys! My interest in Europe has been woken from the dead...
