Book Description

What do you get when you arrange a marriage between fire and ice? Morgan’s world is turned upside down when she is forced into an engagement to Brian DeMacleo. Brian is an infuriating, overbearing, conceited, arrogant bastard who does nothing but treat her like a child. Not only does Brian have to deal with his...condition... but now he has to deal with the lovely Morgan. Or rather, the not so lovely as personality goes. The woman does nothing but argue and try to irritate him. At least they can find some common ground in that neither of them wish to get married. They will get out of the marriage no matter what it takes. But can they keep their secrets as the moons cycle continues?

About the Author

Morinda Montgomery spent most of her time blending in, it wasn’t until her last 2 years of high school that she became truly interactive with others and now she doesn’t know a stranger, believing you can learn any number of interesting things from many different people. Her love of writing came before the growth of her curiosity however. She wrote many poems and short stories. Secret wasn’t the first ‘novel’ completed by the young author, it is however the first to be published. Many more are expected in the years to come.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find the words May 6, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This review contains spoilers, so be advised.
I started reading the story trying to find out what this 'Secret' was, not from the H alone but also from the h. The first few chapters drag on a lot, with the tension between Morgan and Brian. It gets to the point of being highly irritating. Then I found out that he's a werewolf and she's a hunter and I seriously considered stopping there (I HATED 'Twilight', couldn't get past the first chapters!).
I did finish reading 'Secret', so I could give it a fair review. If you're in this kind of genre, you might like it. There is enough tension between the characters and it does have a romantic end. A lot of time period inconsistencies, though.

What really appalled me was to see a publication house behind this novel. It hardly looks like the author even had spell check to use, let alone a professional editor (which I still don't believe there was one, maybe Hydra Publications is low on funds or something). It starts with misplaced commas (too many, too little), the random use of 'your/you're', 'to/too' (such basic, elementary level mistakes), then it escalates to the point where the author uses the word 'equate' when she clearly meant 'acquaint', and a lot of many others. Very distracting/frustrating to read a novel that has supposedly been professionally reviewed with so many glaring mistakes.
It is very obvious that the author is young and inexperienced- keep working at your craft, read a LOT, buy a good dictionary and a thesaurus and be more discriminate about the publisher. If possible, save some money and hire an independent professional editor/s, you will learn a lot from this.

3.0 out of 5 stars interesting read January 20, 2012

though the setting is nebulous and the author writes both main characters in first person (which is more than confusing) the story line was interesting and some of the plot twists were truly unexpected... it is a story I will most likely read again

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely Amateur! How did this get published?? May 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I will start this review by being honest and admitting that I could only read 25% of the book before I got too annoyed to finish the story, I read alot (mysteries, historical, supernatural)and that is a first. It is just not worth the waste of time and possibly money(if not free). There is no editing in this book, spelling, punctuation and grammer are below a 6th grade level. The author has little to no comprehension of 19th century dialogue (pissed off?? really?), manners (arguing with parents in social setting), social interaction between sexes or classes , or pastimes (it would only take a 30 second google to find out that rummy was NOT invented until 20th century, pure laziness! try whist). The poor writing is way too dialogue heavy with little prose, story or character developement. The constant adolescent bickering and switching between the 2 protagonists (another really sloppy issue with the novel) made me turn the Kindle off and just give up. One star for the feisty heroine, which should be taken away for putting her in pants in front of company. I should have read the "spoiler alert" review first!!!
