5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Bodybuilding book I owned
I used this book all the time when I was competing in Bodybuilding. It showed me so many different techniques to use when I lifted and I could feel the results right after each workout. Using proper techniques was extremely important for me because I was a natural bodybuilder and didn't rely on any kind of steriods to bulk up. I even referred to it when I was...

The HFL company is made primarily for bodybuilders. Notpowerlifters or martial artists. Their books may have sections withspecial exercises for martial artists, they aren't that good. If you are a bodybuiler than this book is for you. Even still the book is not complete. It only covers how to exercise certain muscles. The biceps, triceps, deltiod, hamstrings, quadriceps,...

Using proper techniques was extremely important for me because I was a natural bodybuilder and didn't rely on any kind of steriods to bulk up. I even referred to it when I was developing workout plans for friends. It taught me a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners., January 1, 2001
This review is from: Secrets of Advanced Bodybuilders (Paperback)
If you've been lifting for years and reading magazines or other books, then you probably already know most of the book. If not, get this book because it will make your workouts much more effective. It teaches you how to perform an exercise with proper technique in order to maximize the effectiveness of the exercise and it explains how to exercise synergistically. (Performing certain exercises in a specified order to increase the overall effectiveness of the workout.) The book does an excellent job of explaining things in a clear, simple format. The book does not cover all muscle groups. The primary ones it leaves out are abs, calves, and forearms. I recommend reading their legendary abs supplement, it is very informative. Problem is, for as short as it is, there are two parts to it sold separately. If you want to take your training to the next level, I suggest reading Warrior Speed. That book explains how to train to increase muscle performance toward a specific goal, whereas this book explains how to position your joints to increase the effectiveness of the exercise.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Secrets of Advanced Bodybuilders (Paperback)
This book is divided into three different parts. The first is a short explanation of the theory of body mechanics. The second is a long section with many of the exercises described. The third is several workout plans based on level of expertise and purpose. Altogether this book makes a helpful workout companion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Overall Value, December 30, 2009
This review is from: Secrets of Advanced Bodybuilders (Paperback)
i bought this book new back in the early 90's and used the techniques for awhile. i just pulled it off the shelf and started reading it again. now that the internet is around, i googled the title, just to see if it was still circulating out there and what other people had to say about it. while i never stopped going to the gym, i haven't been as active as i once was. but, now as i age (born in 1967), i decided to kick it up a notch and work out more seriously again. i found this book good then, and i think it will help me out again now. for the price of it, it's definitely worth the investment. i bought the legendary abs book from them too, back in the day. i'm planning on reading that book again too.

If you are a bodybuiler than this book is for you. Even still the book is not complete. It only covers how to exercise certain muscles. The biceps, triceps, deltiod, hamstrings, quadriceps, and back muscles. Thats it. You have to buy a seperate book for the calves, one for the forearms, one for the rotater cuffs, one for the neck and traps, so you getting ripped off. But however if you are rich enough to spend alot of money on books, go ahead.
