I bought this book on a recomendation. The vast majority is entertaining, informative, & Honest. My only complaint is that after he has explained the mechanics of how he does his illusion, he sometimes tries to sell us on the idea that he occasionally can do feats that he can't explain. This is simply not true. He DOES know how these feats are done, as does every mentalist on the planet. My guess is that he has a following of " Believers " and so feels obligated to include just a little mysticism in the text. His section on hypnosis, and what actually occurs is lucid & revealing. One explanation on how to do an effect made me laugh out loud. Not because it was silly, but the explanation was so simple, I was caught off guard. Certainly worth the price of admission.

Kreskin states right off the bat that he does not read minds. However he is such a student of people and nuances that he can
detect the slightest facial changes that people make. You too can do it if you have the will, dedication, and time to put into it. I don't. But it was compelling to read about how he does it. Written in a very readable fashion.

I've almost completed the book, but before I was too far removed, wanted to give my review.

It is a great read, especially for those of us who grew up in the "Amazing Kreskin" era on television. He was one of those who early-on fostered my interest in magic, illusion and mentalism. The book did not disappoint.

While I might have a different perspective on Kreskin's abilities, no one can deny his effectiveness by "whatever" means he uses or labels those abilities. There was much of the book I would not venture to perform, but there were most definitely "nuggets" I quite happily walk away with as a purchaser and reader of this book.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

This is a great little book and makes very interesting reading. The illusions alone are worth the price of the book. In fact, I tried several of them and they are easy to perform with little to no preparation.

I found the writing to be excellent and the overall flow was great. I do believe he did a little too much `name dropping' but then again, if I had traveled in his shoes, I might drop a name or two myself. What's the harm?

I did find the parts of the book that talked about getting more in tune with your own senses to be of interest and thought provoking.

My only caveat which prevents this from being a five star book is Kreskin's adamant assertion that ESP is fraudulent and then going on to give examples of his own ESP (all the while insisting he doesn't know how it works). I suppose he was leaving some room for those true believers that attend his shows to believe he really has harnessed powers that elude the rest of us. The way it was presented just rang a bit of disingenuous to me.

Overall, a good book and recommend for mentalist fans.

I hope you find this review helpful.

In.this book, Kreskin divulges his secrets. He says that anyone can do the mentalism that he does. However, some "tricks", he says, he can't explain, yet he still performed it. He seems to use much effort to substantiate that there is nothing that is supernatural. He is critical of hypnosis, implying that anything "revealed" by it is not true. I like Kreskin and agree that we should be skeptical, but life bas a lot of "unknown"! Skeptics, like believers, are not unbiased.
