4.0 out of 5 stars If you're an adventure gamer
I thoroughly enjoyed this game.
The graphics were slightly disappointing - I'd expected better -
but I found the game absorbing and not too difficult at all.

It was standard adventure game fare - and not bad at that.
I didn't find it boring at all - although it's admittedly not the most exciting game I've played.

I would hope...

1.0 out of 5 stars Just Another Puzzle Game
This game suffers from the same immediate flaw as "Paradise" in that you spend several hours solving meaningless puzzles before the story begins. Of course, there is not much story to begin with. Some people were hired to write code for the puzzles, and someone else was hired to write code to fill in between the puzzles.

After the story finally begins, you...

I didn't find it boring at all - although it's admittedly not the most exciting game I've played.

I would hope there will be another instalment to continue the story.
I have often found games issued as part of a series often falter and are never carried through to fruition.
I'll be disappointed if there are no more chapters.

I think if you prefer the action orientated type of game it won't be for you.
As with all games - it depends on the type of gamer you are.

4.0 out of 5 stars An adventure game of the best kind!, December 27, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Secrets Of Atlantis (Video Game)
This is a classical adventure game with a good number of puzzles of various complexities, a strong storyline, much better than average graphic, excellent mood and very good to excellent voice acting. My only problem with the game is the first person setting. In order to avoid dizziness in some players, other games either offer a so called "slide mode" (see Scratches), an option to slow down the mouse sensitivity and with this to reduce the spinning effect on the player, or an option to play it in 3rd person - not too many games offer this most desirable option though -

Despite all the spinning I had to endure, I finished the game because it is just so good. I can see how the Soduku and Texas holding can be a turn off for some, but they fit in the storyline very well and I personally enjoyed both. The story follows the quest for some medals and related objects, in order to find the way to Atlantis. During the course, it brings together 3 special characters with ancient Atlantinean heritage and a "bad guy" for added interest. I do not think that this storyline is any worse than most recent, successful Hollywood adventure movies...; plus it is interactive!

The scenes are: the beautifully rendered Hindenburg, the Empire State Building, Macao, an Indian palace, a Mezopotamian village and an imaginary underground setting, all nicely staged in the 1920s and offering plenty to discover.

I am eagerly waiting for the next installment that is clearly implied with the ending that, BYTW, is satsifying on its own terms. But Dreamcatcher Interactive, please, think about those with motion sickness!

This game suffers from the same immediate flaw as "Paradise" in that you spend several hours solving meaningless puzzles before the story begins. Of course, there is not much story to begin with. Some people were hired to write code for the puzzles, and someone else was hired to write code to fill in between the puzzles.

After the story finally begins, you solve a puzzle. You walk across the room, you solve a puzzle. You go into the next room, you solve a puzzle. You go downstairs, you solve a puzzle. You are transported to a remote village, you solve a puzzle. You walk across the village square, you solve a puzzle. You walk down the road, you solve a puzzle. You talk to someone, walk up the road, you solve a puzzle. Figure about two hours of actual game play and about some 20 hours of solving puzzles. Those who are not Sudoku addicts should take a pass on that basis alone.

After I solved the absurd Bee puzzle, I realized that I would then have to find and mix a bunch of things and turn various valves on and off. That was it. Even though I was quite close to the end of the game, I really did not care. I could hardly remember what the story was supposed to be.

There is simply too little story here to support the many puzzles. Nothing happens for most of the game because you are always stopping to solve a puzzle. Fans of adventure games should certainly ignore "The Secrets of Atlantis."

Loved this game. Great story, music, voice acting and settings. The graphics were good (maybe not great) but adequate. The puzzles were woven into the story line and I did find a few frustrating but checked out the walkthrough on Gameboomers and that made the game much more fun for me personally. Look forward to the next game that follows.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what you expect, May 31, 2009

This game was ok. I expected more stuff about atlantis, like inside atlantis but it was more of running around trying to find it, riding in a balloon from place to place and searching for clues. It was dissapointing and not very long.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just when teverything starts taking off the game is over, October 12, 2008

This game is actually quite good. Good scenery and graphics - decent dialogues and some mystic mood which remains more or less throughout the game. It has somewhat of a comic book flair - which might not be everyone's thing - it worked for me though. The big disappointment comes with the end of the game. Just as things draw closer to revealing the SECRETS, the game is over - just cut off. Very disappointing.
Is it a waste - not really - because one can get into it. However it is not worth the disappointment in the end.

Things were going along nicely in this OK game when suddenly a slider puzzle popped up. Not only was it a slider, but there is a time limit and security limit also. Not only do I have a mental block against slider puzzlea, but now you throw additional obstacles at me ? Nope. I quit. I never did see the end of this Adventure Role Playing Game. It wasn't bad at all until the slider. If you like sliders, you will like this game - I did not.

I enjoyed the graphics, the dialogue, and unique style of illustration. The game was easy to maneuver and the puzzles were challenging. My only disappointment was the ending which didn't provide answers to many of the questions and left you hanging. Maybe because a sequel is planned?

What a superb game. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
The graphics, sound effects and music were very well done
as where the puzzles.

My favorites lactations were on the Hindenburg and in Macao.
The ending was great

I hope there is a sequel.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for a good game, buy a Bioware game instead., August 1, 2007
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Secrets Of Atlantis (Video Game)
This game was the biggest waste of time. While the puzzles are overthought and often too difficult to figure out without the help of a walkthrough, the plot itself is underthought. The graphics are nothing impressive and the 360 degree pan style (that the entire game is set in) is extremely sensitive and accomplishes nothing except to give you a massive headache. You'd think that in a game titled "The Secrets of Atlantis", you'd actually FIND the lost continent. But in the short 16 hours of gameplay (which are frustrating, especially since the entire time you're waiting for the game to get good), you NEVER find Atlantis. In fact the end of the game seems like it should have the words "To Be Continued" flash across the screen since the game literally does NOT have an ending. This game will leave you annoyed, frustrated and in desperate need of closure. Buy a Bioware game such as Jade Empire or Knights of the Old Republic instead.
