Haunting Black Metal..., January 14, 2000
This review is from: Secrets of the Black Arts (Audio CD)
Dark Funeral's "Secret Of..." Is Pure, cold, Christian tormenting, Black metal! This is some truly scary stuff. Amazingly Fast guitars, vicious drum blasts, & diabolical vocals all roaring from the deepest pits of hell. This has got to be their finest release. "Vobiscum Satanas" is a cold hate-filled album as well, but If you don't have this CD, BUY IT! Try listening to this at night, or in the dark, It's a creepy experience.

Second take on this cd., November 25, 2005
This review is from: Secrets of the Black Arts (Audio CD)
Well, I wrote a review for this a few years ago, but have sinced changed opinions. This is some very raw black metal, and the sound quality is really poor. However, if you can stand to listen to it loud enough, this album sky rockets in its worth. At a higher volume, you can hear a much more complicated guitar line, and even some hints of a keyboard, but the keyboard is absoluty buried, if I wasn't imagining it. The most problematic aspect of this album is that at a more usual volume, many of this songs a) sound horrible, and b) sound the same. For fans of the genre, it's going to be a worthwhile listen, but if you're just getting into black metal, you may want to put off purchasing this one.

I bought this CD for a friend for Christmas, and then we popped it in and I was just amazed. This is cd is VERY good but you can tell its early Dark Funeral because just about all the songs repeat them selves. Not their best, but definitley a good album.
