More About the Author

Robert S. Sadler is 39 years old and lives on the west coast of Florida with his wife and 11 year old son. Robert's love of writing began when he was very young but wasn't truly realized until just recently. His writing style mirrors his personality and in many ways his general beliefs about society as a whole. His passion for writing about good versus evil mixed with tons of violence and a touch of the erotic comes through loud and clear in his "Secrets Of Blood & Bone" Paranormal Fantasy series, the first book of which is titled "Rebirth of the Chosen". He also enjoys writing about the darker side of human nature which you can get a taste of in his latest release "VENGEANCE" as well as another stand alone title he has in the works called "Entitlement. All of Robert's books contain his trademark sarcasm and twisted, dark sense of humor. He hopes you enjoy reading his books as much as he does writing them and would love to hear from you at www.RSadlerbooks.com or check him out on Facebook.

Though not typically the type of book I would read, I thouroughly enjoyed this novel. Hearing about werewolves and vampires featured in it, I was afraid I was going to be reading Twilight regurgitated, again. This was not the case. Mr Sadler had very unique views of monsters. World wide setting and ties to organized crime made this more of an adventure than a horror novel. The pace of the novel was very quick. He was descriptive enough to get the points acrossed, but did not put you to sleep talking about the way the wind blew. I highly recommend this first book in the series and am looking forward to reading the rest!

Quillen Ware, more known as Q, works as a guard in an emergency room in Tampa. It is a job that has its pros and cons. One night that's seemingly just like all the others, he sits working on an exercise to control his somewhat volatile temper, but is interrupted by three ambulances coming in. When he goes down to the parking lot to check things out, he finds himself in the middle of a gang war. From here, his life takes a surreal turn; the gang leaders aren't exactly human, and after killing one of them, he's approached by the elusive Sid; a strange being appearing more or less out of empty air.

Sid brings Quillen along into a world that's populated by shape-shifters, vampires, ogres, and many other species living side by side with the humans, yet unknown. As it turns out, Q himself might not be as human as he thought he was, and throughout the book, he has to face some difficult truths about himself and the world, and choose sides in a war he couldn't even have dreamt existed.

I got this book as a present, and it's not one that I would have picked for myself, which made reading it all the more interesting. I had no idea of what an urban fantasy might be, and I was happy to find more mythological creatures than I had expected. As a side note, I was also happily surprised to find that some of them had gotten Swedish-sounding names. Skugga is definitely a word from my home country, and with just a little good will, Jätti could be too. Speaking of language, the book contains lots of crude language, sex, and violence, and if you don't like that, you probably shouldn't read it.

I really feel obligated to rate this book high since I received it for free in exchange for a review, but honestly I would have put this book down in the first 140 pages (out of 277) if not for that obligation.

Raised by his ex-military single father, Quillen Ware AKA Q, has never felt like he had a place in this world. Built like a pro-wrestler X 2 his messed up genetics never allowed him to play sports due to steroid allegations nor join the armed services like his old man. Skating through life now as a rent-a-cop at an inner-city ER, Q gets caught up in the middle of a drug gang war only to watch mayhem brought on by 2 supernatural killers and in which Q barely survives. Thrown into the world of the supernatural, Q sets out to join the war that has been brewing for centuries and to discover the secrets of his powers. He has to decide which side he stands on and what he plans to do with his powers. Recruited by one side, he is sent on an undercover mission to infiltrate the other. Who's side will he stand on?

The story started rather clichéd, but turned into something unique and fun. However, the writing and development were seriously flawed. It is rather obvious this book is self published. Because I thought the first half of the book wasn't worth reading, I'll start with the negatives of the book.

1. In need of a good copy-editor--There were several typos and goofs throughout the book that a good copy-editor could fix to polish up the book. It can be easily overlooked, but it really doesn't do this book any favors. For example: "Q ...took of his glasses." So, does he take *of* his glasses or take *off* his glasses? Hmmm.

On a personal note, I have read more than 3000 books throughout my life and I have always had the same favorite author. Well until I read this book, Rob Sadler is now my all time favorite author!! In addition, despite my house being 65 degrees I still needed to fan my face during the sex scenes!! I just have to say, "WOW"!!

The Urban Fantasy book, Secrets of Blood and Bone by Rob Sadler, pulls the reader into the story with vivid descriptions of both the characters and the scenes. I felt like there was a movie screen that played in my head as I read the words. Not the typical Vampire vs. Werewolf book. This book brought out all of the paranormal creatures. The battle scenes kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened next. The main character, Q, says aloud what others only think and as the reader, I was under his spell in no time.

This is an awesome book and Rob Sadler has an excellent writing style and creative imagination. This book is one that males and females alike will enjoy. My only warning is that it is not suitable for children.
