I do accept the fact that Dr. Chan's experiences, knowledge, and advise are good even unique.
I do accept the fact that a 60-min program is not enough to talk about doing business in China, so he was quite limited in terms of time.

But the title should have been the "Basics of Business Success in China", not the secrets.

In short, do not expect to sell millions of products after you watched this program.

You can do so, if you hire Dr. Chan to market your product, there's no doubt about that.
But what he is talking about in this program is just a little spark. Can you burst it into the huge flames, and sell your product in China and achieve a business success? If you don't have any past experience on China, NO, you can't.

Do not expect a lot.
But if your expectations are low, if you do not have enough time to read a 300-500 page books on doing business in China, then watch this. He summarizes everything you need to know. The problem is, as I said above, if you don't have any past experience on China, you will not know what to get and when to get from this program, and it's even possible that you'll miss his point in more than one occasion. You may not even understand what he's talking about.

This is a great introduction into how to interact with ones Chinese counterparts, and is an excellent resource for international business/relations students and seasoned business professionals alike.

The points made on the DVD provide great insight into the complexities of the China market and mindset. Attempting to enter the market without an understanding of the basic nature of ones customers is futile--this DVD provides invaluable information to avoid missteps. While the market may change, the nature of ones counterparts in China will remain the same; if you are not fully aware & prepared for the nuances, you are wasting your time and money. The principles on the DVD are geared towards selling to the China market, but they can also be applied to purchasing from China.

Dr. Chan's knowledge of the China market is unquestionable. This DVD should be on the shelf at every university and chamber of commerce office.

As a client of James Chan, I have found his expertise and knowledge of the China market to be a very valuable asset. Consistently selling American made products in China is not an easy task as James discusses in this DVD. Sure, you can make the one easy sale but developing relationships and long term business in China requires a different mindset and a firm belief in the products you offer. James describes in detail the keys to success in selling to the vast, complicated Chinese market and the CHINA formula is a tool to apply in pursuit of this market. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone that is currently selling into China or to anyone who believes that their products could have a market in China. The information presented here is so important that it may only take an hour to watch the video but many years to fully apply all of its insights.

I like the C-H-I-N-A formula Dr. Chan summarized for his 25 years experience doing business in China. It is a key principle to guide American companies to be successful in this country. The business environment in China is changing very fast and whoever wants to develop the business there, Confidence is still the No. 1 factor that people should consider. Understanding your strength and your Chinese partners' true needs will build this confidence level to a high degree which will guarantee a half success. Working with Chinese people needs no more than Acceptance (A in this formula). Those who know how to deal with Chinese business people with respect and trust and when to exert influence and control power will eventually enjoy the happiness of success. With this formula, doing business in China is not as difficult as you think.

I've been working with James Chan to successfully build China markets for various products and services since 1983. We introduced to China sophisticated scientific infomation retrieval tools and a line of specialty chemicals used in high-tech applications.

In addition to helping me develop China marketing strategies, establish distributors, and execute promotional programs, James actually accompanied me to China on several trips to show the way and open doors.

Over the years, I've spent many hours with James and have absorbed a lot of his China wisdom. Much of what James has passed on to me can be found in this DVD. You can get a running start in developing your China expertise by watching it.

James Chan's "Secrets of Business Success in China" is a must have for any small or medium sized company and any executive who wants to sell into the challenging China marketplace. I learned things that I had never known were essential to selling in this market and the pitfalls that can occur if you are not paying attention to your buyer. Buy this DVD today. It is worth its weight in gold!
