Book Description

Call of Cthulhu June 1, 1997
Four One-Session Fright-Night Adventures Everyone holds a few dark, deep secrets close to their hearts. Some are small, and would seem unimportant if they were exposed to the light of day. Others are big, and could change the world. This book is about secrets that have been allowed to fester and darken in the shadows. Why was Robert Monroe-Tylor's coffin filled with bricks? What horror left Jason Andrews to die a sickening death? Why does Ralph Morgan hold conversations with himself? What manner of creature stalks the Vermont countryside? Investigators must uncover these secrets before they are destroyed by them. This Fright Night scenario pack is suitable for beginning keepers and investigators. The adventures can also be used by experienced keepers as interludes in a longer campaign. The scenarios in this supplement are short, providing four nights of fright!

2.0 out of 5 stars A mediocre entry in the Call of Cthulhu line, January 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Secrets (Call of Cthulhu) (Paperback)
Not the best scenario book available for the otherwise excellent Call of Cthulhu game system. If you are looking for modern era scenarios, check out Unseen Masters or, better yet, Pagan Publishing/Arc Dream's excellent Delta Green campaign setting. The scenarios in this book are uninspired and aren't much good for anyone with even a modicum of experience as a gamemaster. If you are a beginning Keeper, however, you might get a few ideas from this book.

The other flaw in this collection is that it contains a recurring motif, but nothing ever comes of the motif. It's just there - a bare connection between the scenarios that is never explained and which apparently means nothing. Very disappointing!
