Editorial Reviews

Review

Carmineo keeps everything zooming along like a fine-tuned spotscar, the cast is good company, there's an assertively pretty score -- Video Watchdog No.123 Dec/Jan/Feb 2006

NoShame’s release of SECRETS OF A CALL GIRL sure will look nice in your Italian exploitation DVD collection. -- DVD Maniacs.net

Noshame continues to raise the bar in quality and content making them a force to be reckoned with. -- 10,000 Bullets.com

These films have never seen the light of day on DVD. Keep an eye on NoShame - they're going places. -- DVD File.com

director Giuliano Carnimeo gives the movie a pace and dynamism that reminded me of early 30s Warners melodramas. -- National Board of Review.com

When people look up a film and see that it only received 2 stars, they are led to believe that the film pretty much sucks, and arguably so. But too often I see folks who complain about the seller or Amazon taking too long to deliver in the review rating or, in this case, someone who bought the wrong movie and then trashes the film for their own mistake (I`m trying hard not to say stupidity, because political correctness isn`t something I`m fond of personally...). As far as THIS film goes, it`s got John Richardson (Black Sunday, The Vengeance Of SHE, One Million Years B.C.), Richard Conte (the Godfather, A Walk In The Sun, Blue Gardenia), Corrado Pani (Watch Me When I Kill, Gambling City - another good No Shame release), and the fabulous Edwige Fenech (5 Dolls For An August Moon, Strange Vice Of Mrs. Wardh, Lover Boy, All The Colors Of The Dark, etc.etc.), and tho it isn`t your warm and fuzzy type of film, it`s a keeper for certain. Edwige Fenech stars as Anna, a beautiful but naive small town girl who ends up in an incredibly abusive relationship with a sadistic mobster, and from there, it`s an abyss of drugs, depravity, violence and prostitution for poor Anna. She escapes, looking to begin anew, finding temporary happiness with a new lover, but the mobster wants revenge... uncut and uncensored, it also has a boatload of dvd extras, and is worth your time, if you can find a copy now that the NoShame label is sadly defunct.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring May 16, 2009
Format:DVD
I was expecting the new British call girl movie. But I watched it anyways and it was slow and not very engaging. Also not any nudity. Which was the reason I wanted this movie. Maybe the time frame the movie was set in and the stereotypes of the film were good at the time it was made, but didn't work for the 200's
