A story about a couple's struggle to make their marriage work despite their difficult, abusive pasts. I felt like crying every time one kept the other at arm's length. They both want so badly to just be normal, to love and be loved, but their heartbreaking histories almost overwhelm them. Not only did I believe these characters, but I also believed in them. A wonderful book.
