Viewing the National Geographic video "Mysteries of the Dead Sea Scrolls" and then viewing this video, I felt appalled at National Geographic. In contrast to many ridiculous films (like Nat Geo's) this film is just the facts, no more, no less.

It is a wonderful, if dry, documentary, and very useful for teaching. The film offers everything you need to know, and none of the sensational fluff I've found in other material.

Recommended.

This was a very well done documentary on the history of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was fascinating to see where the scrolls are held on display to the public, some of the behind the scenes of repairing and maintaining the scrolls, as well as a brief history of how they were found. This is highly recommended as it is done sort of Dragnet style, 'just the facts'.

It's a great introduction to the Dead Sea Scrolls : where they were found, who hid them there & why? Science confirms the authenticity of the texts written more than 2000 years ago by the Essenes sect. The documentary stays away from controversy by sticking to the science & the generally accepted dogma on the texts. Great introduction to this important find of our time!

This video was used in a church adult forum and stimulated a great deal of questions and discussion. Would recommend it to anyone who is part of a group with an open mind about learning more about their faith and its beginnings. It was fascinating to see how CSI style forensics are being used to attempt to save the writings on the scrolls and the pains being taken to preserve them. The DVD is done in a way so that it is not just a boring documentary, but presents the mysteries and questions that were being investigated by scientists and then proceeds to explain how they were answered. The members of our group want to view it again to glean even more from it. A great "find" in itself.

This is a very informative video about the Dead Sea Scrolls in a general way, good for schools, seminaries and personal learning.

This is primarily a DVD about the Essenes and Qumran. The DVD records convincing evaluations of evidence. But what secrets?!? Louis J Sheehan
