I purchased this CD at a First Nations Center on Vancouver Island. If a non-native is being accepted as a Flute player by the Natives themselves he must be doing something right. A statement I still attest to after having listened to the CD countless times.
The music falls into the category "New Age". Like most New Age albums the music is calming and partly electronic. Ron Allen has found a perfect balance between electronic music and his "organic" playing of several kinds of Native American flutes, including clay flutes. The only (small) complaint that I have is that the album as whole is a bit monotone. Something more or less custom with New Age music.
The songs I like best are Chasing the Wind and Hoda's Song as they find a perfect balance between vocals, flute and synthesizer.
To conclude: from the truckloads of new age albums around Secrets of The Dreamcatcher is an excellent choice!
