ELOISE LAWS' BEST WORK YET!!,
By
This review is from: Secrets (Audio CD)
Secrets is the title of chanteuse Eloise Laws' latest venture and the "secret" is she is one of the industry's best kept "secrets". This cd is 5 stars and then some. The opening cut "Tenderness" meanders into a lazy jazzy interlude that conjures images of being inside an intimate, smoky nightclub. Her vocal similarities to Nancy Wilson and Regina Belle on this particular track is uncanny. "Listen To The Moonlight" is a flamenco guitar-flavored gem...just beautiful! Ms. Laws' voice has never sounded stronger or more assured on these and other tracks on this disc. She even offers something for the r&b/hip hop crowd with "A Man Like That" - but unlike the current wannabe little girls singing in little girl voices about GROWN FOLKS things, this is a real WOMAN who sounds like a WOMAN singing from the heart and true life experience. This should be a contemporary radio anthem. Also of interest is the Vesta Williams' penned "Out On A Limb". Brilliant!! The set closes with a wonderful interpretation of a jazz classic "I Got My Baby" which finds the singer joined with her siblings on a playful musical romp. It is so nice to hear a cd with real instrumentation (the singer is backed by a full band) and quality lyrics. In conclusion, this is one cd you will put on and play from start to finish and probably wind up hitting the repeat button on several. HIGHLY recommended listening. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT.

This is one of Eloise Laws' best album since her Out Of Print "Eloise" album! It just simply flows from start to finish. I've looked at it for almost a year, and kept saying to myself "I'll get it one of these days", well it popped up for 0.75! (Seventy-Five Cents!)...And even then I still waited for a Month. Upon pushing
'Play', and listening to Key Tracks: "Tenderness", "Listen To The Moonlight", "Leave The Light On", "Out On A Limb", "Sometimes", and "More Than Than You'll Ever Know". I can only sum this up in one word...WOW!. Yeah, I know the cover ain't nothing to write home about, but get pass that (We don't play covers, anyway!) and buy this Album right away!!!
